There is always a return on investment - if you play for years and years, investing crystal packs will pay off. I suggest you start with getting 1 monster to 1500 or so - just for the sake of it. You'll meet him/her in the arena's then, regularly. And you get more wins and gifts. And in a couple of years, it may even pay off! (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) But, it's mainly because you get to meet your monster.

More tokens? Get tokenizer III. And then do a grindfest every day. Or better: 2 or 3 grindfests every day. And all arena's (except the first 5 of course), every day. And RoB.

As far as I understand gift factor affects on how often you do get more gifts, but whole description is misleading, so this is my understanding of it, it may or may not work differently.

Well i just tell you what i have noticed. I have monster with Giftfactor +150% who bring me allready three gifts sometimes. Of course not on a regular basis. But from time to time. And this is all i can tell you. I have just observe this.

It's definitely a credit sink that takes years to pay off after hitting PL750.

But... I've learned that it seems to be a linear scale on the chances for higher grade materials.
Or.... at least it feels kind of linear.
On the numbers side, with all 200 of my monsters above PL1000, I average 118 gifts per day.
And the good news is 72% of those gifts are high grade or bindings.

To me, this has become an integral part of the game for I watch the percentage of mid grade materials drop as I now increase my lower PL monsters equally.

After a while, your materials will start paying for the crystals anyway.

I go along with DJNoni....
Get as high with tokenizer as quickly as you can to increase your monster count and gift factors.

Is 750 about the breakpoint where you start to need tons of crystal packs? Or is the reason to get to 750 is just to avoid low-grade drops?

How important is parry chance for 1H Rapiers? I found [alt.hentaiverse.org] this shit in the bazaar and bought it on a whim, but it only has 1% parry chance. Is that actually really terrible or what?

it's very important, parry. If you want to buy a cheap lv500 rapier that doesn't completely suck, check my wts, I have 2 of those for sale. Not great, still a lot better that what you bought in bazaar.

I want Penetrator 5 and Spellweaver 4 for my staff, so I set the difficulty low enough that it only gains one level per IW run, then if I don't get either of the ones I want, I reset with only one Amnesia Shard. Am I doing it correctly, or is there a more efficient way?

I want to learn about this too.

What about if you get an unwanted potency in the 2nd run. You still need to use 2 at extra stamina cost. There is a chance you get one to level and then ruined by an unwanted potency at level 6 too.

I vote for highest difficulty possible to reveal both starting P first.

I would only suggest this if you either have the Dark Descent perk, or are still able to sent it to one who has that perk. Otherwhise you would just wasting shards. But in the end this is more or less allready the most efficient way. In the end it is just, money and patience.

iwbth to get the first two potencies, everything else on pfudor
P, S = good (S3, P1 = bad omen)
P, P = good
S, S = reforge (dark descent service or get the perk)

5 Ps available for non-focus staffs, assuming chances for each P to appear are even
Wiki: Additional levels of potency are more likely to level up existing ones rather than give new ones (50% chance when you have one, 75% when you have two).

P = Potency, + = already existed Potency levels up

Level 1 Good 40% | Bad 60%
P1(40%)↓
Level 2 P1+ 50% | P2 12.5% | Bad 37.5% | Desired Double P from this point = 5%.

P1+(50%)↓ / P2(12.5%)------------------------------------------------------------------------------↓
Level 3 P1+ 50% | P2 12.5% | Bad 37.5% | Desired Double P from this point = 2.5% / Good+ 75% | Bad 25%

Comparison after two runs (same stamina)
"Fast"(P1>P2 = 5% = 20th run): 38AS
"Slow"(P1>P2>Good+ or P1>P1+>P2 = 6.25% = 16th run): 10+ 3*5 = 25AS
"EvenSlower"(P1>P2 = 5% = 20th run): 12+2*7 = 26AS

Not sure how the rounding is done to odd numbers of P level with Dark Descent Hath Perk, but the consumptions of AS for each case are more or less the same.
Just don't do the "Fast" way without Perk like Uncle said.

Afterall, it depends on how often you pray to Snowflake.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

The number of shards required is equal to the equipment's Item Potency level. So I need to pay 2AS for Potency level 3?
