So, I'm looking over some of my items and equipment. I'm curious about how the auctions work, most of the price check forums seem to have 'beware of scammers' listed in them so I don't really know who to trust on my weapons and armor. On that note are there any reliable price check forums?

Price check forum is very trustworthy. Just don't sell anything there. Only sell after you get more than one estimation. That's what the warning is for: don't sell anything to someone who quickly gives an estimation and an offer

For the most useless Equipments, we can get an absolute objektive reliable Price in Bazzar.
For useful Equipments there are no such absolute reliable Price, but the recent Result of Auction is a good Reference.

An Exception:
For tradeable useless Peerless Equipments we can also get an absolute objektive reliable Price form Scremaz.

Thanks. This sounds really helpful. I'll make sure to use the price check forums for estimations for an initial price and then go sell the equipment in auctions.

As a power armor user, I don't think I'll ever be a mage, even when I reach level 500, so I'm thinking of unloading my leather, staff, and cloth equipment, since I won't be really salvaging them.

Just send your item to Superlatanium, he will put it in his auction. I would not recommend creating your own auction. Buying at auction: rules and explanation is in the first post of the auction.

If you want some trustable price check, I can do some simple price checks for you according to the bidding history.

Bad idea. Knowledge and experience are more reliable than just checking the prices, even though it does help.

Post it in the price check thread first to at least know whether the equipment worth auctioning or not then go send the item to Superlatanium / SakiRaFubuKi to be auctioned or decondelite if your item is not that superior but low level (<350).

If your equip is the shadowdancer thing yesterday, it will get minimum bid in super's auction. Just send it to super via MM with no cod. And if you want more infos just check his thread "super's auction discussion thread" in this subforum...

I do think you should go wind/elec or just dark. Any style, even if you don't have chargeds and radiants will work fine in Arenas, but wind/elec have more potentials than cold/fire in the long-term. The only priority is profs, elemental profs and deprecating profs. Wind/elec are stronger than imperil dark. Non-imperil dark is stronger than elemetals and much cheaper compared to holy, but from what I see it would take time and lots of credits to get the profs and forging , and radiants to play non-imperil styles.
Some lv500 charged clothes are not that pricey due to low competition. Maybe 300k to 5m each. Redwood staffs are also fine. Even if you don't have the budget to buy charges, plain cloth should work fine. The first things your budget will go, I guess it would be hath perks, then the staff and forging, then clothes(or go plain first).
The hath perks do cost a lot for beginners...

not with my build, with only 1 radiant for 1.0 prof factor. I have optimized for imperil play up to now, also because of my not-perferctly-high t/s (2.8 is max achievable for me). I may try with 2 or 3 radiants, but that will take ... about 70m ... to complete. And then, it's probably not faster than imperil play with my t/s. So ... this may not be a good idea.
