I've been looking into how some helper scripts work, and even made my own that turns equipment buttons into normal clickable links so that they can be mass opened in background tabs without switching focus, while retaining all existing functionality. (Would people be interested in it? It's pretty short.)

I realized that some things can be achieved without the need to use any scripts, simply through user css stylesheets, because css5 has some very basic decision making capability based on existence/non-existence and string matching. Through this, at first glance, it may be possible to achieve some of the forbidden functionality, such as hiding dead monsters to allow hover play without mouse movement, or placing hotkeys for expiring buffs under cursor (though I don't think MB actually uses mouse clicks).

The rules and everything else uses the term 'scripts', but is it safe to assume that that's just a convenient shorthand since that's the most used method? That it also extends to injected css, autohotkey and screen scraping bots, browser extensions and plugins, and up to custom coded browsers, game clients and mobile apps?

The behaviour is what's prohibited, not the method used to achieve it - so yeah, that kind of modification would be against Tenboro's intentions.

I got one-shotted by the "Invisible Pink Unicorn"

I play 1h debuffer and the key move against everything is Silence (3 targets aoe). This restricts the boss to basic attacks and crits, which should not be able to oneshot you unless the difficulty is too crazy for your level and gear. Weaken then fixes that. Sleep also makes a huge difference when there's a bigger crowd.

An alternative play, more fitting for MB hover type combat, is to go high evade/block/resist, have Spark of Life active and spirit draughts/potions ready, and rely on Stun to only give the target minimum opportunity to act. Can be a mix of skill usage, parry/counter stun, and club weapon stun effect. If a fatal hit does go through, a spirit potion will instantly recover the shield. Just don't get hit twice back to back; fall back to Silence if that happens.

The unicorn is fairly chonky but not nearly as bad as FSM which feels like it has 5 times the hp. On the wiki I see that it has a nasty set of resistances. I have very quickly settled on using Void element weapons (ethereal prefix, or lvl10 item world) where all those resistances ought to be nullified (I hope). Weapons with Penetrated Armor effect and the Imperil spell will speed up the killing, as will using the Vital Strike skill when the target is stunned.

Unfortunately mana recovery is really bad in this game. A heavy armor bruiser with all autobuffs active will have 6-8mp upkeep cost and therefore borderline unplayable outside of Isekai mode where the cost is halved. And even then, just setting up regen+heartseeker costs half the mp gauge.

To compensate for that, you can Focus to recover mp using orbs, but that wastes time and ticks down buffs. Or you can chug mana potions you buy by the hundreds from the player market. Using spirit stance reduces both upkeep and casting costs by some amount. Exploiting rng 'channeling' buff is good regen/heartseeker and it also extends their duration. Siphoning mp via drain side effect might work, never tried it. Weapons with mp drain are pretty useless since they only drain 1-2 points every now and then.

The opposite direction is to have full equipment of shade arcanist and battlecaster for minimal interference and mana conservation. That halves the costs and gives more freedom to throw spells around, but the need to recover is still there.

well things will change soon I think. So I wouldn't invest in light-battlecaster experiments in current version.
