Isn't it better to sleep the top 3 enemies? If you cast Sleep on 2 (hitting 1,2,3) and 2 resists it, you can kill 2 and then recast Sleep on 1 to hit 1,3 guaranteed (assuming you have 100% magic hit chance). But if you cast Sleep on 8 (hitting 7,8,9) and 8 resists, if you kill 8, you can't recast Sleep and hit 7,9 in one usage. (Though using Sleep a second time, either on a group of Sleeping enemies to keep them asleep or on a group of awake enemies to get them sleeping, might be overkill for low floors of the Tower.)
I always kill non-sleep first. I think the sleep order doesn't matter for 1H melee.
You sleep from the top and then attack from the bottom.
That's the same as you sleep from the bottom and then attack from the top.
The only difference, which you mentioned, occurs when there are only a few monsters left. You gotta attack the middle one.
It's totally fine whatever strategies you pick because the dangerous rounds are when most monsters are alive.
If there are only 3-5 monsters left, I'm not going to sleep anyone because I can survive that and I need counter-attacks +Spirit stance to clear faster.
But of course, Your strategy would be better.
PS: Oh, I played as a 1H mage, so it matters to sleep from bottom to top. I instinctively think about sleep from the bottom XD.

Got a question, for "why is Last Elixir cheaper than Spirit Elixir? It's combination of 3 Elixirs"
Noni said, if you use Last Elixir in GF, you would notice the difference.
Recently, I ran 4 GF. Some runs with Last Elixir. Sorry, I can't notice why Spirit Elixir is better (IMG:[
