I was hoping someone could explain to me the logic behind how MP regeneration works. I have "+19 MP Regen Per Tick" but when I go around bonking enemies with a staff I'm just regaining 1 MP in the time it takes to bonk. How does the +19 actually translate into MP regen?

Then, tick matters.
Tick ≠ Turn. Your action may take less than 1 tick, and 1 tick = 100 base time unit

However, I also have doubts about this. I just tested with 28 mana regen/tick.
I had an average of 2 mana regen/attack. Do I really attack that fast?
I hope someone could answer this.

A long time ago, vitals like HP & MP persisted outside of battle, and would slowly regen over time.

These days, it's normalized around action time in combat. I'm not certain of the exact rate, but it's likely the displayed rate per 1000 time units, so your 28/tick is more likely 2.8 per 100 time units (a normal action without any speed increases).

I figure it's not something I should do willy-nilly but is there any reason I shouldn't soulfuse a weapon I intend to use for a while?

It's hard to determine "a while" as usually newbies are not experts about the equipment market. Also, I'll say no one will feel the soul fragments are enough until they reached Lv500 or already got the BIS.

Anyway, you should link the weapon you want to soulfuse if you want to get more detailed suggestions.

So I recently noticed that I had 460 Energy Drinks and since I never need them, I sold them, and now I have 65m.

How should I be spending this? Do I prioritise the best Peerless weapons I can buy, or certain prefixes, etc.?

Up until recently I was only using Niten (L Katana, L Wakizashi) but after doing some speed (real time) comparisons with DW (L Rapier, L Wakizashi) I'm starting to think I should pivot to only DW.

Should I get P Rapier and P Wakizashi, or some other combo? Or some other melee weapon that kills/plays faster?
And regarding Shade, should I get Shadowdancer or Fleet? And is Savage + Fleet the same thing as Shadowdancer's crit?

Sorry for so many questions, I just don't want to waste my golden opportunity to get The Right Stuff♪. (* ' ω ')ノ

I won't attempt to tell you the best way to spend your windfall, but you might be interested in this post comparing combat stats for various DW combinations. For max damage/speed with DW, club of slaughter + Rapier of Balance seems like a winning combination.

there are three situations when you don't soulfuse your equipment:
1) your level is 500 and equip level is 500, so it's not necessary
2) you plan to sell this equipment in the future
3) you don’t have enough soul fragments, and equip not worth buying them

By Forge you mean spam Bindings of Slaughter/Isaac/Nimble to max out (66) DMG/CHC/EVA right? If I salvage my current upgraded stuff do I get most of those back? Slaughters from my Katana or Nimbles from my Wakizashi, for example.

but I'd say at least to 300. I don't really play a lot outside Sunday due to work apart from a lot of random encounters so in real world time I'd say I'd be using it for quite a bit of time.

It sounds like you're not going to level up fast, you would have a lot of soul fragments in your level.
So, I think it's worth to soulfuse this one. You have to IW it yourself since it's untradeable.

1) Training -> Adept Learner -> 300/300
2) Hath Perks -> Thinking Cap -> Obtained
3) Hath Perks -> Mentats -> Obtained
4) Hath Perks -> Learning Chip -> Obtained
5) Hath Perks -> Cybernetic Implants -> Obtained
6) Settings -> Challenge Level -> PFUDOR

with all those stars, all you have to do is to play on PFUDOR. That's possible at your level. But at least do IWBTH as a minimum. If you want advice on how to survive PFUDOR, just ask here. But then mention your style and share your equipment links.
