Why isn't scan in HV instant? Usually in rpgs it is but in here it costs a whole turn. Do mages cast it faster?

no it's same for all styles. And it is what it is: not instant. Perhaps, but just a thought, it's better because it's not instant? Many things are, like soup for instance.

What should I play GF for? I found it consumes stamina by floor, too. And it has worse drops.

I don't mean I want to just consume Stamina. I want to consume stamina effectively while I see no worth of GF. Arena, ring of blood, IW and RE are way better than GF

Arena, RoB, and RE are the best by far. IW is good if you need it for your equipment, otherwise it can be a good way to grind exp (IW100 arcanist gear) but not very profitable at all. Grindfest is only good for profits if you have high drop training/hath perks, especially Crystarium. Mages sometimes play grindfest on IWBTH for nearly as much in drops and a lot less risk of dying.

Apparently ripened soul deals damage over time, but is it worth to upgrade it? I thought it was only for activating spirit theft, which I was adviced isn't worth.

Maybe, if I remember correctly back when I was lvl <100 I rotated between elemental spells so I guess knowing weakness would be a good idea. Once you delve on a style, get a fixed weapon or choose your element as a mage, there's prolly little use of knowing weaknesses. Not to mention, if I understand people here correctly, at high mage builds you are supposed to cream common mobs in 3 shots or less. Bosses / system monster's stats are already in wiki so no need to scan them.

One possibly niche use is that, whenever I played DW and need to wait for my FB to finish cooldown and there is exactly one stunned enemy to go, I just scan them several times. Your passed turns counts for the cooldown, and scan is pretty fast so one stunned turn for them can be 2 scans for me.

Btw, how to get rid of the riddle master penalty? I thought I was precise enough. I always, at least, figured 2 out of 3 (I know there is sometimes 3 pictures of one pony) ponies but I still got the penalty after avoiding it for one week.

Agree. I used to scan all enemies before hitting them and found them useless in minutes. All normal monsters are random so documentation is useless. All bosses are documented in the HV wiki, so scan is still useless.

Scripts do affect your performance. Generally, it wouldn't matter since it only uses minor resources of your computer.
If you believe your computer is good and you didn't install a ton of scripts, I would say it's the setting problem or memory overflow. The latter can be resolved by rebooting your computer.

If you want to play like a real RPG and dive deep, you wouldn't want to check the stats by wiki instead of scanning it by yourself. Then, I recommend such players to scan only bosses since normal monsters are RANDOM

There are always 3 ponies in the picture (could be three different ponies, could be the same pony 3 times, or some mix). And you have to get them all for it to be considered a correct answer. You'll always get the riddlemaster bonus regardless of if you answer right or wrong. How long it'll take to get rid of the penalty is anybodies guess. Just keep answering correctly and it'll be gone eventually.

I saw void mitigation when I scrolled down my character stats. I'm just not sure whether a melee weapon with non-physic damage is considered physic or not

every style benefits from imperil. Only exception is fully forged holy mage with good gear. Always use imperil. Void strike gets a strong improvement from imperil. The quote above is wrong, the wiki is right. Void strike counts as physical damage, and imperil does help a lot.
