I'm in a similar situation:
Magnificent Tempestuous Wakizashi of the Nimble
Exquisite Rapier of Slaughter

I've used them both, and while the rapier hits harder, the wakizashi lets me pretty much stay in spirit stance full time against regular monsters (I think the Nimble suffix helps there). They both work well, but I normally use the waki because I don't have to get in and out of spirit.

rapier+infusions should theoretically be faster, but yeah permanent stance is kinda nice. You could get that from a rapier as well of course, but probably not from that exquisite one.

Looking for a rough general idea of what equipments are actually valuable (before I bazaar a whole bunch of Magnificent and Legendary equip).
Knowing a general idea can also help reduce forum clutter to ask about every equip we have.
Can anyone help?

As I understand it, all Leather items are worthless (only good for bazaar/salvage)?
Also, all 2handed is worthless except for some Katana?
Only Rapiers, Clubs and Wakazashi are valuable?
Weapons with no elemental/ethereal prefix are worthless?

Superlatanium's auction system thread includes a post with some general guidelines for whether a piece of equipment is likely to reach the minimum bid of 50k in auction. I suppose you could use that as a "is this piece of equipment worth 50k or more?" guide.

That looks like a good starting point.

So that would mean there is no point having a shop with Magnificent items?

As I understand it, some magnificents can have value if they are exceptionally good (some combination of: rare material type, right prefix / suffix, high stat rolls) and/or are low level.

The same prefix/suffix combos Super recommends. For mage gear in particular, you can also look at Nezu's mage equipment & stats guide to get an idea of what mages are looking for.

Hi! Should I use shadow veil while playing 1H heavy armor? Since it provides evade chance I am wondering if it actually interferes with the block/parry and so reduces my counterattack output. Thanks! (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

If you need it to survive, use it. Otherwise you're correct and you can deal more damage without it. Similar to haste.

Bit of a vent, bit of a question, I came back to this game after not playing for quite a while+, but I'm sadly getting screwed over by the riddlemaster. I've always loved this little game but every time I come back to it, the whole captcha anti-botting thing gets worse. Hopefully, my stamina can go back to normal from red... but man I really wish I didn't have to quickly open a chart for a show. I've never watched and quickly scan it and try to figure out who's who. I can't even use their colors as a hint like I used to and the timer doesn't appear nor does the submit button until I hit refresh the page. But I think turning off adblock helped. But those times I hit refresh it continues the fight with the riddlemaster buff which I can assume means it thinks I put in the wrong answer :x It's that dang time limit making me anxious.

I know the specifics of how the riddlemaster works are secretive, as they should be, but I'm curious if anyone has been in this situation before and how long it took them to get their stamina back to normal, now that I recently learned about the whole seasonal mode thingy! I'm excited to try out a new season buuut if I'm gonna be nerfed with excess stamina drain because my boomer ass is too slow to recognize them ponies, in my last one the middle pony was just a half torso that turned into a mesh of pixels so I couldn't make out the hair. Should I leave the game alone for a week and start over? Any tips or tricks? I've never found myself at zero stamina before with the red number and I really hope I'll be out of bad boy jail by season 3

When I first started HV, I was greatly frowned upon by the Riddle Master because I mistakenly thought that 'three different ponies would always appear'.
This went on for over a month and at its worst the stamina consumption was almost 10 times the normal consumption.
Now that I understand the Riddlemaster rules correctly, I rarely get an answer wrong and have not been penalized.
The difficulty of Riddlemaster seems to increase and increase with frequency and level of play. Eventually the ponies protrude from the screen, overlap, or are so thin they are barely visible.
The longer you keep answering correctly, the sooner you may be released from the penalty.

Tips and tricks...
  • First, recognize them by their faces.
Wearing a hat (cowboy hat) → Applejack
    No hat → other ponies
But please note that you may see an Applejack without a hat.
Horns → Rarity or Twilight Sparkle
Rarity is characterized by her curly-tipped hair (and tail).
Twilight Sparkle's hair has a so-called "Hime cut" (princess cut) and has two strands of mesh.
No horns → Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash or Fluttershy.
Pinkie Pie has characteristic frizzy hair that is round and fluffy and is easy to identify.
Rainbow Dash, as the name suggests, can be identified by its multi-colored hair.
It shares with Twilight Sparkle the fact that its hair is not single-colored, but it can be distinguished by its very different hairstyle. Rainbow Dash's hair is not neatly tousled.
Fluttershy has long, almost straight hair.
Fluttershy's hair is long and single-colored in common with Rarity's, but the tips are not curly and are slightly wavy, so we can distinguish them.

  • Note that the same pony may be displayed more than once.
There are times when three Applejacks are shown, or two Twilight Sparkles are shown, for example.
Some illustrations of Pinkie Pie exist as a set of two Pinkie Pies. Thus, when all three ponies are Pinkie Pie, up to four Pinkie Pies may be displayed.
Even when other ponies are present, the proliferated Pinkie Pie may become a trap to overlook them, beware.

  • Winged → Rainbow Dash or Fluttershy.
Personally, I think it is a bad idea to try to distinguish these two animals by the presence or absence of wings.
This is because they often have folded wings and are not much different from a regular pony's body shape.
Only if it is clearly identifiable as having wings may it be a Rainbow Dash or Fluttershy.

  • If you are not sure, do not check.
Selecting a pony that does not exist in the image seems to result in a particularly large deduction of points.
If you cannot determine which pony it is, it is better to go through with it than to check it at random, which will result in a minor penalty.

I guess this is about it. I'm sure other riddlemasters will chime in with more obvious tips.
You can also go to the Riddlemaster link on the Wiki

May you be free from the Riddlemaster penalty as soon as possible.

Thanks for answering! Also just realized binding of the barrier is actually dirt cheap and now I upgraded a chunk of my block chance and am running much better without haste and shadow veil. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

So I saw that random encounters are supposed to show up, but I have not seen a prompt for one yet. Is it stopped by addblock?

My add blocker doesn't stop it. I get the link to the RE when I go to the news page https://e-hentai.org/news.php - it's below the banner where the dawn of a new day info would be.

Ok, I got it to show up. So is the random battle the main thing to farm? The arena seems to not have more fights.

Arenas & ring of blood fights reset daily, grindfest & IW is where you'd spend stamina beyond that - REs are only 1 per 30 minutes, up to 24/day.

You unlock more arenas at higher levels. See this wiki page for details: https://ehwiki.org/wiki/Arena

So I understand that onehanded is a simple beginner setup. Should I try and get a shield and heavy armor now, or just go with whatever drops? Right now I'm mostly just using whatever junk has dropped. I would assume getting exp for the right armor type would help something though, right? I have cloth on currently, but I have some pieces of light also. Also from my understanding, int and wis don't seem to do much for a weapon build?

Also, is increasing the challenge level a good idea? So far I have at Hard and everything I can still clear easily, although the newest arena floor (3rd) did make me use a healing spell.

If my main goal is to just farm Credits, is anything very important besides the arena fights? The random encounters give xp, but have mostly dropped items instead of credits. Also, are any trainings worthwhile? They are quite expensive.

QUOTE(blastech @ Sep 13 2023, 02:19) *

A lot of your questions are answered in HentaiVerse Advice on the wiki, but I'll also try to give my perspective.

Armour: For your level, using whatever is dropped is good enough. Light armour is good for survivability at low levels but assuming you stay playing as 1H you'll want to switch to heavy armour completely at some point (level 100 ~ 200?) to take advantage of counter attacks. Also there are people giving away low level equipment for free in the WTS forum if you want. Also also be aware that equipment of superior quality or higher have a level assigned at the moment they drop and you can't use equipment that are assigned a higher level than you. (i.e. don't buy level 500 weapons from the shop!!!)

INT / WIS: They aren't very useful for 1H but you'll want to spec into them a little bit for mana / spirit pool size.

Difficulty: Play at the highest difficulty you're comfortable playing for maximum exp gain. Having to cast cure (and later regen) is normal. At low levels when spirit stance isn't as important you can use focus to exchange overcharge (yellow pips) for mana to cast more cure.

Credits: The no.1 goal would be to get to level 225 and unlock the arena at that level ASAP. Play arenas and REs as much as you can and sell the dropped equipment you don't need. Keep a tab of the EH homepage open in the background and refresh it every half hour to trigger REs. If you get any token of blood, play each of the ring of blood challenge once for the first clear bonus, and save the extras tokens for later.

Training: Most of them are very long-term investments and not worthwhile early on. Adept Learner and Ability Boost are the only worthwhile ones until you have a stable income of credits.
