Mage is difficult at low levels, but in return it becomes super strong late game. If you haven't already, also check out the Advice Page on the wiki, Nezu's Mage Guide, and another Beginner Mage Guide

Most people would recommend playing a melee style (1 hand or dual wield especially), but mage is possible at low levels too. The trick is to use a 1hand weapon with high parry and a shield with good block and low interference, instead of a staff. This will keep you alive long enough to blow up some monsters.

Also for keeping you alive, try putting more points in endurance. Endurance, Agility, and Dexterity all help defensively, in that order of importance.

Equipping a mage can be difficult because mages are rather picky about equipment suffixes. For example as a fire mage, you'd ideally want your armor to be a combination of phase of surtr and cotton of the elementalist, whereas a melee player can slap on any piece of armor and have it work just fine, as long as it's all of the same type (i.e. all light armor or all heavy armor).

Does a peerless voucher have a fos value?

Arena with a lot of legedary monsters (like End of Days) worth doing for exp or credits as mage?

Seems to need lot mana potions so I not sure is worth it for exp or credits (maybe worth for trophy farming bosses)

Maybe is better with level up economizer potency & infuse Aether?

Remembered HV existed about two weeks ago and started playing again but I just feel like arenas are taking me much longer than they used to (20~25 minutes for a 55 round arena). Granted, the last time I played HV was about... 4 years back? Feels about that long. Using 1H melee with an axe (bec I got given a legendary eth) and my armor is Mag/Exq shade stuff (mix of shadowdancer/negation/arcanist) I bought/found and soulbinded back then. All abilities are maxed for level and I have shadow veil on innate arcana. Did see on the guide that light armor is apparently bad for 1H but I didn't think it should make that great a difference.

Thought I would post some stats here and see if there was anything (apart from dumping credits into buying or upgrading gear) that people might be able to suggest (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

:edit: btw I do have OFC and I use it with holy fervor whenever it is ready.

Go to https://forums.e-hentai.org/index.php?showforum=72 and get at least Monsterbation if you don't have it. HVUtils is also a nice idea.

Try renting a Rapier and see if you like that. Anything else kinda relies on Imperil, which isn't great before level 310.

The reason why light + 1h isn't "good" is just because it's slower. 1h is the tankiest style just from a good shield alone (that you seem to not have) and the common weapon choice Rapier. That's why 1h likes power armor, as it gives the most attack. That however kinda implies that you have good gear. I'm not sure how much of a difference there is between your build and, say, someone with 3 plates and 2 power armors, and generally not that great gear. (doubly so with an axe and no absurd amounts of attack, instead of a Rapier)

If your gear is REALLY old, you may also have the problem, that it's underpowered. At least the axe looks fine, but I wouldn't know about the rest. Another script, Live Percentile Ranges , would tell you. (you need to set a custom font in the settings, for some of these scripts to work)

Just a quote from 0.88 update. The new arena which have same rounds to before is mean to have more monsters than before.

- Arena round counts were rescaled and now cap at 100. This includes a tweak to the arena monster scaling where you effectively skip the first 25% of arena rounds compared to the old scaling.

Also, the monsters get stronger these year than before too

Yeah, the main reason I said that gear wasn't the answer I was looking for was that everything seems to be outside of my soulfusing range (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I will look around for power armour pieces though as I have about 2mil that I can use and even cheap exq pieces should give me an idea of how it will work. Didn't realise rapiers were supposed to be so much more effective though. Would have thought that the 2x dmg that the axe had would balance that out.

If you want it easy: look for a decent shield with the highest block you can find. If nothing in your range can be found, you can shrine some trophies (noodles are best for this) - and aim for a decent mag. force shield. And then forge the block stat a bit. Your block is way too low.

Get rid of the axe, it doesn't have enough parry to be useful. An equisite rapier of slaughter would probably outperform it already. Find a magnificent rapier, if you can't find one go for balance instead of slaughter, or a shortsword of slaughter works as well. Then IW the weapon to 10. Extra void strike!

Problem with light gear is that you will get less overcharge from evade than from block and parry. So evading will hinder your speed. Go hide behind the shield, not running away like crazy carrying that heavy shield with you.

Use the overcharge. Get Orbital Fr. Cannon and use it.

This is not how you play mage, sorry. This isn't going to work against stronger enemies, and you want to play at higher difficulties for the drops & income. DWD arena is PFUDOR only - no chance with such gear. If you must play mage, I won't stop you of course. In that case: use imperil. Not high enough level for imperil? Yeah, that sucks.

Best to level up with a stronger build. 1h heavy or Dual Wield + light, both can work. Or try to find much better mage gear at low level and forge the shit out of it. That would work as well.

Aether shard is helpful if you lack mana. But if you play mage, you need to use mana potions as soon as they cool down. And then you need elixirs as well - especially when your proficiency is low. Mage is not easy if you are low level and low on funds. It requires investment to get the benefits from it. Without investments, you're stuck with the downsides: extremely poor defense.

Yes, End of Days is an excellent source of income and exp. Any style. Improve your gear, forge, etc. until you can play that with ease.

Is easy, no die,, no effort need (just hover cast + pot/buffs when available) just take some time & much mana bcz many rounds legenday monsters 200,000 hp (on Hell) &I hitting between 5000-15000 usually

That's only for obsoletes. Like the axe should definitely work. If it doesn't : You didn't set a custom font in the settings. Without that you get similar issues.

it drains me almost 50 stamina for 600 rounds in arena. make I cant even finish all arena gate.
soon I found out there is new rule in riddlemaster. which you need select all 3 pones to get through. which I only selected one as old time. I had received penalty on stamina drain. question I have now is that, how long was this penalty gonna to be last. what can I do to reduce the time of the penalty.

Duration of penalty is not known - Tenboro doesn't want to tell anyone. What we do know:
1. it is not permanent
2. it depends on the most recent riddles
so if you continue playing, and this time get more riddles right, the problem will be solved in time.

I feel your pain with the ponies. I have a screen contrast script that I installed ages back because I have problems with fuzzy pictures like that due to a vision impairment. Now my error rate is only about 20% lol
