QUOTE(ArcFive @ Jul 11 2021, 13:43) Hi, I'm jumping back into the game after a year or two of inactivity.
What should I be looking out for now today?
I am currently equipped with a 2h/light armor setup. And I'm just all of my healing spells to survive Hell difficulty (I know the wiki says otherwise, but that was years ago).
I've changed my difficulty back.
Am I really expected to grind normal/hard until I hit Lv200+?
Should I be posting my equipment stats?
I don't know how strong I'm supposed to be at this stage. How do I know if I've done something wrong at this stage?
I could do nintendo comfortably around your level on Isekai, IWBTH after getting spirit shield at lvl 200 (possible but more comfortable after the second ability unlock at lvl 220) and PFUDOR after the lvl 250 1h block ability unlocked, But we should consider that we got IA5 there and tons of ability point without having to train them - also I got a legendary force shield at lvl 193 albeit a low block one. So, without those I guess hell around your level while aiming for IWBTH at lvl 250 and PF after all spirit shield ability unlocked is acceptable. But that's 1h-light. and yeah, usually at your level people start transitioning to 1h-light and to 1h-heavy around lvl 300. This post has been edited by Fudo Masamune: Jul 11 2021, 07:14

do you want to keep playing 2h, or don't care about the style? QUOTE I don't know how strong I'm supposed to be at this stage. How do I know if I've done something wrong at this stage?
It's possible to play easily on iwbth (or even pfudor) at that level This post has been edited by lololo16: Jul 11 2021, 07:11

I've heard that doing Random Encounter only is enough for this goal, if it's not, maybe you need to do RE at higher difficulty. 1H-melee is the style which can do PFRE with the worst equipments (Exq. should be enough), if you don't mind to switch, become 1H-melee and do PFRE would be a choice. Weaken, Silence and Scrolls are also very helpful for high difficulty with bad gears, just cast/use them if you feel hard. Edit: you may wish to sell Precursor Artifact or Energy Drink in [ hvmarket.xyz] HVMarket, if you had extra time, you could do "The Trio and the Tree" and/or "Eve of Death" at normal difficulty and sell Trophies, that would bring some extra credits This post has been edited by sharmy: Jul 11 2021, 07:56

I've been playing 2h/light for a while now, I have 200+ prof. for 2h and heavy
I only have 50+ prof. for 1h so that's going to take a while.
I'll check the HVMarket to sell my stuff thanks.

Too bad you are not allready level 225, because in that case i would suggest just do End of Days on lower difficulty for a few times, sell the trophies, profit.

Are there any differences to fighting using 1h from 2h?
Because the last I tried this (years ago), I realized I was always getting swarmed by enemies in Arena. My healing abilities and my damage never did enough for survival. Now in 2h it's mostly comfortable. I cast my healing abilities + haste + SoL and I knock out everyone with by hitting multiple enemies at once.
For hard battles there's always the rending blow/great cleave/spirit etc.

Big ones even. 2H does stay alive mostly because of mace. 1H does stay alive because of counter attacks and stunning the monster by that. Parry, block and hight mitigations make it a walk in the park compared to other styles. With the high overcharge gain also unique to 1H it is also much easier to use the OFC much more frequently. I guess you made something wrong for 1H to be more vulnerable than 2H.

increasing proficiency is easy nowadays. QUOTE(ArcFive @ Jul 11 2021, 15:02) Are there any differences to fighting using 1h from 2h?

1h compared to 2h? you automatically stun couple of monsters through your counter attack and stay on almost permanent spirit stance. slower but less stress from tying to stay alive.

It is not that much slower if you use imperil and the OFC.

I wants to mention ofc as replacement for those skills he mentioned, but he is lvl 180 with only 15k credits on hand... also, it might not be that much slower in reality, but the problem was the perception from "attacking squishy low difficulty multiple monsters at once" to "hitting harder higher difficulty monster one by one" can't be shaken off easily. So, usually instead of trying to convince people that it is "not that slow", I would prefer to say, what's the point of being slightly faster if you can't even finish the job. 2H/DW/Niten is quicker but more dangerous (AKA: need better equipments) If you want to get an OFC, I'll send you as gift.Edit: sent This post has been edited by sharmy: Jul 11 2021, 09:02

Go to WTS page, find some posts which gives free restoratives and credits for players under some levels, if you have not claimed them before. Also, go with 1H, believe me, I was on exactly the same path a few months ago as you are now. I was playing 2H and have big survival problem. I have to use health and mana potion, even sometimes elixir to finish a Random encounter. Later I followed suggestion from those people and switch to 1H, and life became much easier. 1. Find a exq. or mag. force shield, a rapier(if not a shortsword) 2. Go with heavy armor 3. Go to WTS and find some free new player package, or even free equips. 4. Sell your energy drink, trophies to HVmarket 5. If you are willing to spend your real world money on this HV game, buy a star(become star member) or sell a star(get tons of credits, became extremely rich at your level), both will make your HV journey much much easier.

If his concern is just credits to download gallery, there is little reason of playing HV anymore after buying a star.

it is possible to play at way higher difficulty. However, 2h isn't the easiest style to play when monsters get tougher. At your level, it should still be doable, though. 1. Get better gear. Magnificent gear should be in reach at your level 2. Forge your gear a bit, to 5 at least 3. Use your ability slots, upgrade by using the ability points 4. Learn to use the abilities of 2h 5. Put points in your PAB's Alternatively, go for a style that is a bit easier / defensive: 1. 1h with rapier of slaughter (or shortsword) + force shield 2. DW, with Rapier of Slaughter + Waki of Nimbe (or shortsword of slaughter + rapier of nimble)

Yeah, those two are good, but in the end i would say it depends a lot on what elements you allready are protected against and which elements do actually deal the most damage to you. Lets just say your holy and fire mit is allready quite high and much more damage you take from elec, it wouldnt be helpfull if one would now tell you, yes those are the most desired elemental mits.

Hmm, just wondering if I should pursue specific proof for this Zircon Boots after Jug5... With my current set up I have 44.4% fire 0.0% cold 49.6% elec 59.9% wind 19.0% holy 32.3% dark If I change my boots my fire and elec will go down, and holy will go up... I didn't pay attention to which ele hurt me more... (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) I'll try go to IW another eq to check it....
