Speaking of, why do they not show the corresponding boosts in your HV stats? Do you need to jump through some hoop for them to activate in-game or does it work despite not being visible?

They are automatically applied once you unlock them but not visible on your HV stats. Think of it as an add on that only activates during battle. The clear speed should speak for itself I guess.

I'd reforge. At your level, you'll want perfect IW. But I am a bit of an IW snob.

So, regarding perfect IW, what would that be in terms of upgrades? I thought IW was random in awarding its upgrades and levels of those upgrades.

Don't know why someone would sell them to the Bazaar, but you could either shrine them for upgrades/weapons or sell them in Super's auction. Especially the 30 Stocking Stuffers. 30 is a nice amount that someone'll definitely bid on it.

Depends on what style you're using it for.

1H players: non-ethereal. Burden is useful for lowering attack speed and evade (= more counter attacks). Dark/holy are best for schoolgirl arenas. If you use imperil, elemental types are better everywhere else.

For DW, 2H and niten: ethereal is preferable, except on rapiers, shortswords and wakizashis where it doesn't matter (because you can use a featherweight shard to fully remove their burden/interference, at legendary grade).

Some older players remember ethereal being stronger, before we were able to get void damage from item world 10, but since we've got that now... it matters a lot less.

For rapier/wakizashi: overpower 5 & fatality 4 on both.

On armor: juggernaut is king, by a huge margin. After that, holyproof is pretty good, as is fireproof. It's not worth aiming for double potencies on armor due to the RNG in the IW system (you could be looking at thousands of reforges, in unlucky cases). Juggernaut5 + whatever else it lands is good enough.

Sorry to ask another question, but can you reforge an item's elemental strike for ethereal weapons? Or is it unchangeable? And is there a "best" element? I'm going for cold strike since I use the flame spike shield for the damage reduction side effect.

Yes, when you reforge an IW10 ethereal weapon, the elemental strike is lost & the next one is random again.

Not in particular - elemental types have a marginal advantage for imperil styles compared to holy/dark, and there is a minor gain from using one corresponding to your spike shield element. But it's really very, very minor.

Besides holy/fire/dark being considered a little better, it's best to balance out each type of mitigation somewhat. So unless it's your final ultimate piece of an ultimate set you've decided upon, you can take any element that comes and build around it later.

Aside from that, 2 potency (any element 5 + any element 5) is more efficient than 3 potency, so that is another possibility to aim for. You'll have a little more combined resistance in the end from 2 potency equipments.

armor1: J5 + fire3 + cold2
armor2: J5 + fire2 + cold3

I think they are the same.

The freeshop rules says that soulfusing equipent above your level is usually not advised, why? Is it because soul fragments are kinda rare and I shouldn't be waisting them without understanding whether they are good equipment or not?
