what was the sell cost? roughly 4k? if so, it's working as intended since it's 5x purchase price, which is 5x selling price. this without considering lower caps.

Made a pair of salvaging tests:

324 pxp
condition around 80%
bazaar price: 1442
buyback price: 42110
ratio: ~29

316 pxp
condition around 80%
bazaar price: 1491
buyback price: 42645
ratio: ~28.5

327 pxp
bazaar price: condition 70% -> 1488
bazaar price: condition 100% -> 2111
buyback price: 52780
ratio: ~25

So i'd say, if you want to discover the real buyback price, you have to estimate the cost at full bazaar price (100% conditon), so, for an example, if you got the item at condition y, with bazaar price x, the buyback price after salvaging will be: (100/y)*x*5*5

Yes, that's definitely the right way it works.
So it's clear that the situations in wich it's useful as a substitute for reforging are very limited:
no access to Dark Descent perk/service and very late failure of the IW process.

No one knows, but it was too (」°ロ°)」 expensive for the benefit it generates.

Pay 950c, receive 500c worth of shrined trophies, receive a 250c equipment to sell to bazaar.
200c were lost in transaction and that 500c is only useful ╮(︶▽︶)╭ for a peerless bonus drop when it reaches 10 million and you have the Follower of Snowflake hath perk, which costs 50k and few people has. It is not like every peerless plain leather boots of dampenign is going to be useful, the chance of getting a very nice drop are few and kinda not worth the money.

Maybe when jac drop prices someone else start buying something again.

So, going off the Drop Rolls wiki page, which may or may not be inaccurate, but is accurate as far as I know...

If I'm reading this right, the maximum normal drop rate (ie. not in an RE or Clear Bonus round) would be 30% with full Scavenger and a minimum monster Power Level of 1250. For those of us in the higher levels we'd never face a PL monster that low, so we'd get the full 15% bonus there.

With full Archaeologist, your odds of getting an Artifact are 0.4% of any drop. So with a drop rate of 30%, the odds of any monster dropping an Artifact is 0.12%.

Meanwhile, the odds of getting an Energy Drink when you have all your PABs is supposed to be 20%. So the odds of a monster dropping an artifact that nets you an ED is 0.024%.

Which brings me to Grindfest. I assume Grindfest would be about 8000 monsters over the full 1000 rounds. The first 50 rounds or so it slowly scales up from 1-3 monsters until you start having 7-9 monsters all the time (10 only happens I think if you have a Boss or SG show up), and from what I've seen in deeper rounds 8 or 9 are definitely more common than 7.

So again, if all my math is correct and loot rolls are correct, then per Grindfest, you should get 8000 * 0.00024 = 1.92 Energy Drinks. Meanwhile, a Grindfest that you start with 79 or less Stamina would consume 21 points of Stamina (1 point of Stamina per 50 rounds plus the 1 Stamina used to start GF), the equivalent of 2.05 ED. So I guess I can see how people who run lots of Grindfests would need Energy Drinks, though LGBD would give you 20 points back on your first ED instead of 10.

Not exactly. Bazaar buy/sell cost decreases linearly (approximately) from full price at 100% condition to what you could call a "stop price" at 50% condition. This is not always exactly half the full price, I think it takes in consideration costs for repairing valued at bazaar prices of material, but I couldn't come up with a formula working for all cases (rares also change things a bit, it seems).

Going lower then 50% condition however changes how it works, and it's NOT alinear relation.

I know because a few month ago I bought from Bazaar a weapon at 0% (yes, ZERO percent) condition, but the price was NOT zero !
