I'm planning to soulfuse a shield, which one I should go?

But my soulfrags is still low...

The dampening one seems better, yes it has lower block but you get STR instead of END which gives you more offensive potential, the defensive side itself kinda helped by the crushing mitigation of Dampening, as heavy armor weak to crushing damage.
And you already spend some material and IW on that one too.
Not to mention, it has lower level so you can farm the soulfrag faster.

Okay okay balance is for more offensive powers ╰(*´︶`*)╯ and nimble for more defense BUTT considering for ninten what are the cool kids using (✧ω✧) ?

I assumed that with an agile set + swift strike 10 + FRD I could just go balance for the h-hayai (((ง’ω’)و三三三三 ง’ω’)ڡ≡　☆⌒ﾐ((x_x) build but is like, 4% crit chance, 20% accuracy (does it even matter if I forge) vs 15% parry... that is a lot of parry...

Don't bother with frd for ninten. Just feather your heavy gear.

You can only get them from random encounters, capped at 60 per day, or from the shop at 1k each. Soulfusing a mag+ costs 500 plus a level-difference multiplier. KEEP THEM (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Hm, they are all three not that good. The first one has no strike at all, the second is just exq and the thrid is ethereal what when you play as 1H is suboptimal. But when those are the choices you have, i would say use the third one. Also at least the first five upgrades of everything are cheap. And i mean really cheap. You should also remember that you still get most of the materials back when you get a better rapier and salvage the old one. 90% iirc.

I'd say the middle one is the best. Yes it is only Exquisite, but it has the high base damage and an elemental strike. It should be cheap to upgrade to forge level 5, and probably easy to IW10 also.

I'd hold out for better magnificent+ weapons than those other two, and use the Exquisite until you find one.

Unassigned is equipment that was dropped before 0.82 and that has never been equipped since then. After that update, only Average do dropped Level Unassigned. So technically, these equipments are rarer and rarer.

That being said, pre-0.82 equipments have lower stats than modern equipments. Roughly 3/4 a quality tier lower. For example a Level Unassigned Magnificent is only slightly better than a modern Exquisite, but definitely not as good as a modern Magnificent.

So if anything, I'd say that these equipments are not worth much, unless they're Legendary. Level Unassigned Magnificent is barely ever useful for very low level players, like Lvl150 or so.

Difference between prefixes isn't that great. Each prefix gives you an extra strike. Extra strike means More Damage each time you attack. That's good. So there's no bad prefix.

Then within the 'good-range' there may be small differences.
1. Schoolgirls have less defense against holy and dark. That makes dark and holy the best prefixes for SG arena's.
2. Elemental prefixes can be slightly boosted by adding the matching spike-shield. (fire for cold, for instance)
3. Ethereal prefix great, except in end-game 1h rapier/force shield set-up. Great because of void strike, great because no burden. And that, no burden, is the problem for 1h rapier/force shield end-game: you need burden to slow you down so monsters can attack you as much as possible, while your shield then stuns them and your rapier then parries them to death.

2a. Within the 'pretty damn good' range of Elemental prefixes, there is supposed to be a (miniscule) difference between the elements. Supposedly, some monster types are predominant, and they have good fire defense, making fire "the worst" (within the very narrow sub-group of 'pretty damn good'. Supposedly, fire-spike shield is best because it helps your defenses and Cold damaged is boosted a little from fire spike so that makes Cold prefix "The Best". No, you will not notice this difference. only on last 200 rounds of Pffest maybe. But even then: you'll be using scrolls so no fire spikes anyway. Feel free to get a Fiery rapier.

Feel free to get a Fiery rapier.

Especially if it comes with nice stats and/or cheap.

Btw, one of the best rapiers I've ever seen was a fiery one. Just saying.

As one of the users who have been using DW set to clear Grindfest from the start, I say yes.
And for respond to Void Domain, usually I max use Frenzied Blows in Spirit Stance and Imperil.
