As someone that lives in Australia, and gets like 250ms ping to alt.hentaiverse.org, is there something that an Aussie like I can do to speed up the game from an internet perspective - I have no other bottlenecks I can assure you

does the console (right-click > inspect to open developer tools) give you any error messages during battle? if you modified the settings, it may help to reinstall with the default settings, see if it works and start changing the settings from there. you may also have to update firefox if you're using an older version

I don't know anything. There are no messages. However when I play this game, the game window opens in a small sub-window that does not fill the whole screen, and the Tampermonkey icon or any icons (including reload, back, etc) don't show up. It has always been this way for me.

However I tried opening a full-size window and pasting the hentaiverse URL into it, and I can play the game that way, and the Tampermonkey icon says it is active and the script is running. But it does nothing.

I am using an old version of Firefox on Windows Vista. There is no newer version available for this operating system.

That subwindow appears when you are entering Random Encounters? Then it is OK - it is exact how RE are being opened.

As for old version of Firefox - are you sure there is no way to update Firefox on Vista? Because as far as I know Firefox is still updateably even on Windows XP. It is Google who has ended any support for Windows XP (version 48 it was?). So, I think Firefox is may be updated on Vista machine, but I don't know for sure.

As for Monsterbation script - if it uses any new ES6 features, say arrow functions or array's includes method, then your old Firefox version may not support them. If your Firefox version is lower than ~45, you are most likely in "nonsupport" zone.

I also tried the code fix just mentioned but no changes. On this forum the Tampermonker says "No script is running" but in the game it says the script is active. I changed the name of the script though.

Have you tried to remove the script and install (copypaste) the default one?
Also could you try to install GreaseMonkey add-on and try to install script with it (despite the weird monkey-face icon (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) )

And one more - are you using custom font IR default font in the game? (Check the in-game settings). Chances are that Monsterbation requires custom font for work properly.

Oh, and one idea more - are you using base HentaiVerse domain (HTTPS://HentaiVerse.Org) or alt (http://alt.hentaiverse.org)? Try to switch between them. Most likely it would not help, but try anyway.
Could you also try any other script? Check my signature for "Compendium" and try any other script related to HentaiVerse (smartMonsterLab, for instance).

As an ultimate solution, I may recommend you to download portable Chromium or Iron browser, install Tampermonkey on them and give script a try. By the way, IMHO, chrome-like browsers are faster for HentaiVerse than Firefox.

not wanting to ruin your fun, but... are we still speaking about improving your HV? if not (and if it goes on) you may want to switch to the more technical - and frequented - script thread.

It worked with Greasemonkey, but I also figured out the problem with Tampermonker. When I pasted in the Monsterbation code, I left in some of the default New Script code, when you are supposed to erase it all. This wasn't an accident, as the New Script comments misleadingly instruct you to do this. Maybe this could be mentioned in the topic here or in the other script threads.

The speed is disappointing. As I hypothesized on the first page, I get about 1 turn/second the majority of the time, but it spurts at 3 turns/second on occasion. This is puzzling because my ping to alt.hentaiverse.org is absolutely consistent at 199 to 200 ms (today it is 189 ms). It may be psychological but Monsterbation feels noticeably slower than the keyboard "1" method.

After a week of practice I turned the mouse hover off, keeping only some of the helpful readouts. Monsterbation typically reports 0.5 ~ 0.7 turns/second and there is no significant difference with mouse hover on or off. The real world result is a bit slower because of the time spent casting spells and moving the mouse cursor around.

I take longer to move the mouse cursor around with the hover on because it has to be done carefully and in a big looping manner to avoid touching unwanted monsters. This wasted time for me is approximately equal to the time I waste clicking with imperfect timing. This should vary with the player depending on their clicking timing or reaction speed, the dexterity at which they can move the mouse cursor, and the maximum turns/second of their setup.

Hopefully at some point Monsterbation will add an optional feature to attack monsters by clicking and holding down the mouse button. I think it could make everyone a bit faster.
