finally this version make mages usless... finitable mana make them really weaker then fighters... maybe adding regeneration function to stuffs can change situation?
PS before fixing possibilities was really awesome: 11 Mind Rapers in a row since 1st lvl of grindfest really raped my mind 8)

I think you could be right... My standard fireball now does half as much damage to Tentacle Monsters. @Tenboro You should have included those long-winded notes, because now that the equipment stats are active, I'm curious as to what the weapon and armor proficiencies do. More specifically, what stats they increase or decrease.

Hito. get a wand
Pre update i needed to cast 3 flares on a ghost for it to die on heroic. Now i need to do 2, because i have a nice wand and caster gear. Also keep interference to a serious minimum as it affects damage dealt with magic as well. Also. The proc for wands is imba if you're a caster type.
And i'm curious about the proficiencies as well.

Agreed. Doing half damage to a panda on normal is giving me lots of wtf moments. Edit: also, if would tell us our total burden/interference somewhere it would be nice. And I'd really like those long winded notes. Wow. I had to remove two pieces of armor (my only armor of those types) or I'd get slaughtered... Edit: scratch that. still getting slaughtered. Even after removing every bit of armor, I still have no attack magic stats and all spells in battles are interfiered. Do I need to reset my abilities? When you wear non-mage armor, you gain interference. While an interference at up to 20 does not decrease your chance to cast and land a spell, it still reduces your damage from offensive spells by 1% per point.
As for proficiencies, they don't do everything they're supposed to do yet. Two-handed, Dual Wield and Staff affects the proc rates for the special effects, but the rest don't do squat. They will though, but I wanted to get stuff balanced proficiency-less first.

Also, do you think you could make the changes to grindfest an option? Some of us actually had other things to do for the last couple weeks other than grind and grind (and some of us can't do it while at our jobs :\) and bring our proficiencies up to a decent level, so removing the damage reduction in grindfest has made it much more difficult (I'm getting defeated on round 5-6 on cake - getting hit for 100+ damage on cake shouldn't be happening). It kind of beats the point of grindfest, which was low cost easy continuous battles; the amount I have to pay to heal after just 5 rounds with the new damage doesn't make it worth while... edit: I also don't suppose you've implemented whatever your proficiency increase idea was? Get a staff dl, the attack and hit for physical and magical is all in the weapons.

But then there will be people who already take 0 damage from mobs right now, removing that will further cause them to be more godly.

The only drawback that I find from this change is increased resistance to my spells (ie. three in a row for spells for a weakness elemental spell), which cause the monsters to kill me much faster. Oh well, I would just have to try to keep them stunned.

I'm getting 60% resisted or so on depreciating now as opposed to the 5% or so from before the update... And to clarify, they are all resists and not interference. Toughing it out as a melee fighter in a mage-friendly system has paid off. Hard today is like Normal yesterday. I'm going to enjoy dominating for once, at least until Tenboro finishes balancing things out.

It seems like the balance of the game right now is:
If you have good equipment, the game becomes extremely easy
If you have no equipment, you die.
If you have no equipment and want to find equipment, you can't, because you die.
Right now I have 350 credits, and grindfest kills me before I make enough money to heal myself, and I used to be able to last about 12 rounds in normal easily.
I still like alot of the changes in the update though, just wanted to put in my two cents.

Ten already said armor proficiency isn't fully working yet, so you're getting the bare of the bare for equipments right now. That said, switch to cake and get equipment, also, instead of wasting money on the healer do grindfests after your hourlies when you have a good amount of hp/mp left, can get in a good deal of rounds depending on your luck.

In case you didn't get the message, cake is not really any different from normal now. I'm taking 100+ damage from monsters on cake. I can't get past round 6 without items when I used to get to round 20 without using any. The much higher costs for shield/barrier work into that also. Grindfest should be for grinding; being able to bash your way through monsters without much effort but for little reward (and with low costing shield I could increase my support proficiency while I was at it). Now it takes much more effort and still little reward, and can't really be used to increase proficiency anymore. This post has been edited by DemonEyesBob: Aug 20 2009, 22:43

Strange issue: I have 87 magic points naked... then I equip my staff of the owl (which gives me +4.4 wisdom) and then my magic points go down to 83...
edit: wait... that's probably only a graphic issue, since if i change page then it shows 83 naked and 87 with the staff.
