Hey Tenboro, got a question: For dual-weld, offhand attack chance is determined by Proficiency, agi, dex (in that order) But! Are there any NEGATIVE forces that affect the offhand attack chances? Burden? Weapon type? Just wondering before I go crazy trying to figure it out (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

QUOTE(marcho @ Aug 24 2009, 22:44) Ah quick question. Is there something that modifies weapon proc duration? [ img20.imageshack.us] (IMG:[img20.imageshack.us] http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/1751/hvpa.th.jpg) weapon lists 3 turns but my stats show 2. The weapon's stats are scaled down to match your level because your level is (much) lower than the level of your weapon. It should last 3 turns when your level is closer to that of your weapon's.

ah i knew the stats scaled, didn't know it did the same for duration.
I thought it showed the stats for you currently though? or was it the other way around... yes, yes it was. whoops. thanks for the heads up heh, had that completely backwards.

QUOTE(Tenboro @ Aug 20 2009, 22:10) When you wear non-mage armor, you gain interference. While an interference at up to 20 does not decrease your chance to cast and land a spell, it still reduces your damage from offensive spells by 1% per point.
As for proficiencies, they don't do everything they're supposed to do yet. Two-handed, Dual Wield and Staff affects the proc rates for the special effects, but the rest don't do squat. They will though, but I wanted to get stuff balanced proficiency-less first.
Basically, not everything is balanced just yet, which is why heavy armor is slightly ahead~ This post has been edited by Dndestroy: Aug 25 2009, 08:22

Does anyone know what effect armor proficiency has/will have? Just curious, at this point.

Probably increases defense by a small amount and makes you more "able" to use said armor.
For example cloth would have the burden reduced more, light would have more benefits from evade, and so on.
Or so i'm guessing.

My theory is that proficiencies will be the requirements for skills, whenever they're implemented. For instance, a 5.00 Twohanded gets you Generic Power Attack, 5.00 Heavy Armor gets you Generic Tank Effect, etc.

I think I'd be happy with reduced burden/interference with that gear type... but skill's would be nice too (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/happy.gif) . Guess we'll see when it comes around.

I would expect low proficiency to carry a penalty, rather than high proficiency giving a bonus. Reduced interference on heavy armour would be a bit too much of a good thing...

I would see it more towards reduced burden than reduced interference for heavy armor. I'm thinking more along the lines of positive stuff going up slightly, and negative stuff going down (negative bonuses such as -int would also go lower), but mostly excluding some stats that are "attached" to the armor type, such as interference and burden.

@Tenb: I'd appreciate if you'd take a look at the mob skill damage done on cake in grindfest. I seem to take damage in cake grindfest from squirt, horrible rape etc that's almost as high (and sometimes as high) as the amount I receive doing the arenas on normal. Thanks.
Edit: And on that note, if you could possibly lower the rate at which mob decide it's a good time to use their skills, that would really be appreciated. Even if only for cake. Or scale it or something. In rounds with 3+ mobs I get consistently blasted by 2 skills, and considering how much damage they do, by the time I'm done surviving and healing the first 4 waves of skills, the mobs from the first wave have charged their mp back to full, and bombs away. <- That's a bit exaggerated, but not much.

QUOTE(Tenboro @ Aug 20 2009, 19:13) ........... - Monsters in the grindfest no longer have reduced damage output. ............ - The Wheel of Monster Balance has been spun. People should no longer try to fight naked, especially at higher levels. This will be tweaked further over the next few days depending on feedback and battle result stats. ............
Just get some good armor and the damage of mobs in cakefest will drop to zero.
