I removed the 2 peices of heavy armor I have & still no attack magic, (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Do I have to remove all armor to get magic back? (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

Do you mean you don't have it, or you're getting interference?

If the former, don't forget to reset your ability tree. If the latter, notice the interference stat on equipment. Everything except cloth armor and the staff weapons seems to have it.

I was just in the middle of an arena and my weapons got weaker (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I still kicked arse, I just wanted to be annoying (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

I've noticed that longswords get a "hit the monster next to the monster you're attacking aswell" bonus. May I ask what stats (outside of the obvious 2 handed proficiency) also affect this chance?

Two-handed proficiency, strength and dexterity. In that order. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

QUOTE(hitokiri84 @ Aug 20 2009, 19:32) *

So I'm guessing block is effectively the same as evade but calculated independently, meaning more chances to avoid damage.

There are separately calculated chances to miss (base hit+evade chance), evade, block and parry. The only real difference right now is that you can't parry a magic attack, but there might be other tweaks in the future.

Seems like mages are having a hard time with this update.. I have a mage character myself, and interference means I can't depend on armor anymore, and my old weapon gives me interference, and I havent seen a single staff in equipment shop since it opened..

On top of that, monsters are stronger and my magic seems weaker =/..

I understand how a rich mage could handle it, being able to buy everything in sight and having access to high level spells, but at my level, magic seems like suicide right now..

BTW, weapon procs are awesome. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I noticed that the weapon proc damage is consistent across several monster types. What stats are used to calculate damage for the proc?

I'm not 100% sure, but I think when my Longsword proc'd Bleeding Wound, it proc'd on the monster I was hitting, and on the one I was not hitting at all.

Also, Interference sucks. Sell me more high level cotton (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

EDIT: Ah, the Longsword thing has been discussed while I was writing (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Depends what kind of proc you're talking about. The Bleed, Stun and AP procs are only affected by the chance stated on the weapon. The special procs/additional strikes for two-handed, dualwield and staff are affected by the proficiencies and some select primary stats. (STR/DEX, AGI/DEX and WIS/INT respectively.)

I may not have much gear, but I'm loving this club, and the leather breastplate I got. Though if I find a staff, might have to switch to the robes. I like blasting with elemental... but since you made cure available to my level, it's turning more into bash bash bash, heal, bash bash bah, heal.

Either way, this system rocks.

Ah, okay.

I was talking about a Bleed proc from an ethereal axe

BTW, the Weapon Damage Type for my Exquisite Ethereal Sapphire Axe reads as "none" instead of "soul."

edit:

couple other things

Mithra's Flower has changed to Mithra Amp 039S Flower

In the credit log it says "Purchased 2 "Bubble-Gum&quo t;"

Well that's the end of my grinding time for the next few weeks while I gather credits.

Does anyone have a few hints for a melee character to get a decent amount of credits? Note that only my chest armor is heavy, rest is cloth so i'm taking quite some damage right about now :3.

Damnit and to think I sold quite a few pieces of heavy armors in the last few days.

Time to test out this awesome update.

Man this is going to change everything :-/.

Game went from "balanced magic + attack = good" to "pick one, the other's now useless."

Going to take forever to adapt...

Not really, it's just melee attacks are better than they used to be. Before the changes it was basically magic or bust...your ass off to get anywhere >_> With the introduction of the new weapons and armor stats you can fairly easily be a spellsword or the like, the difference is a spellsword won't be able to focus on elemental as much as a pure mage, and will get more from supportive and deprecating. Think of it as the Sorcerer class from Oblivion, you can go around in plate and large weapons, as well as use magic to protect yourself and control them to an extent.

ok, the most people (especially the highlevel) seems to like the update. of course i think hv is a great game and i'm glad when a update comes out, but it's still unbalanced.
the problem is you need equipment which are very hard to find. i played a lot the last days, but i still have only a very weak 2hander with a proficiency of 3.18, so a lvl 18 sperm whale can kill me in 3 turns (when i have full hp). i don't remember a lvl 18 monster was able to kill me this fast (not even the mini-bosses).

As it was commented that my posts get long and boring, you'll have to find out everything about it yourself. Otherwise there would be about two pages of text detailing the various stats, procs and other effects here.

I like your long boring posts. They're so brainy and cute.

Can we have the option to disable that? The pulsating is really distracting and irritating. It matched my blood pressure throbbing in my veins as I was gritting my teeth trying to do my battle.

I think of it more as "magic is now pretty much useless."

OTOH, client-side fonts makes HV superplayable in FF now. So can't complain too much. Just have to give up everything you've learned and start over with figuring out equipment.

WRONG! My balance actually improved quite a bit. Set your equipment so you get a good amount of protection but don't have too much interference or burden and you can be a tank and swat at stuff and then AoE their ass when you need to. Then again my staff has an effect that causes my spells cast to cost half their normal cost so that just sweetens the deal.

Hell, I just got done with a Mithra and the bitch couldn't even keep up with my regen when I had weaken and nerf on her. It was great!

Level 150's get to make that statement. Levels 35 like me can barely scrape together a round in the grindfest.

Huh...It's actually not so bad. I jsut got done with Normal grindfest round 7 and I'm liking everything that happened so far. Yeah I can't rely on AoE that much anymore but mobs usually miss or I block their attacks. With shield and cure + heavy armors I'm taking little damage each round except those goddamned skill they use. Otherwise it's not so hard to manage.

Btw, B> Shoes : (((
