As for whether an API is able to handle something or not depends both on how it's designed as well as how it's used. For example, take the Twitter API I use on the front page. Right now we're polling Twitter 12 times an hour no matter how many million pageviews we get. Caching stuff locally is trivial.

Well, I assume that the case of Twitter is a little different, since the information which the e-hentai site goes to read from twitter is very little compared to the potential of houndreds of users which searches for mugimugi's page of the galleries. By the way, if you just store locally each search result the first time that somebody does it, I'd assume that this will work fine.

How many of our nameless users would actually use this function? Remember what most of them are here for...

Would be nice if main galleries delete confirmation asked something like 'Please confirm that you wish to delete [Gallery Title]' instead of 'Please confirm that you wish to delete this gallery.' in case of accidental misclicks (if you miss you end up deleting a gallery above or below the one you wanted to delete and then have no way of finding out which one it was D:)

It would be nice if for the front page could remember a user-set default filter, primarily the content filters. For example, being able to click the front page link or navigate to just g.e-hentai.org and have it only display manga, artist cg, and doujin. I personally would use such feature to display everything not in the western category. Tokyo-Tosho added a similar feature some time ago ('customize') that uses cookies to set default categories to show or I imagine there could also be a way to tie a default display setting to each user. Either way would work as long as the functionality is there.

if E-H had an image search like [ iqdb.org] http://iqdb.org/ or [ doujinshi.mugimugi.org] http://doujinshi.mugimugi.org/ that would be awesome, it would make it so much easier to find titles that were incorrectly named or not named at all, etc. I know E-H already has an image search but it's not really that good it only seems to be able to find the EXACT same image in the gallery by hash or whatever. As for my request, I think it would be great to have a tag alias system so tags like "loli" and "lolicon" will count as the same thing. Also it would be great if there was a way to download multiple .hathdl files at once like be able to put checks in checkboxes next to titles in a search result pool then download them all at once. Also I don't know if something like this already exists or not, but is there a way to search for "OR" like if I wanted to show all results that contain <Artist Name> OR <Circle Name>?

Eventually it would be nice to be able to tag individual images like on the booru sites.
And yes, tag families were proposed before and all agree they are a good idea - not sure why they are not implemented...?
Btw, the tag database needs some rebuilding.

I know that the main site galleries are to on their way to retirement, but there is one feature that should be added to them - information on resolution of their doggie pages. I've just noticed that the images they display are sub doggie - but there is NO way to know about it without downloading the doggie and comparing res to what is displayed.
Why should we care about main galleries, you ask? Well, because if we want to retire them, we have to be able to confirm that all content was moved to new galleries (or is lower quality). And if the real resolution is hidden, there is no way to be certain of that...

If the main site galleries are retired, what will happen to the reviews?

I'd hope it will become possible to move them to the new gallery systems, I think the review (comment) function was quite nice.

You can't exclude tags from your search unless you also search for a specific tag. So searching for "-big breasts" or "-scat" gets no results, even though there are plenty of galleries without those tags. It would be a nice if you could do searches with only "-(whatever)" tags. Sometimes you're not searching for a specific tag, but you know there are tags that you won't look at. Like "-russian", because you don't understand the language, or "-futanari" because futanari isn't your thing.

QUOTE(Grey @ Oct 7 2009, 21:47) "-futanari" because futanari isn't your thing Blasphemy! (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) Seriously, though, I will repeat that while "3D" can be searched for, it cannot be excluded from the search - that is, searching for "whatever -3d" gives you "Keywords must be 3 letters or more" in nice, red letters.

QUOTE(Red_Piotrus @ Oct 1 2009, 13:00) Eventually it would be nice to be able to tag individual images like on the booru sites. That would be super awesome for those large galleries with image collections that have a bunch of random pics sharing a theme or artist. The feature to search individual pics from multiple galleries in booro style would make sifting through E-Hentai's uploads much faster and easier. I would love to see this implemented in the next major update.

I would like to see the Petition to Rename and Petition to Expunge links be a different color if they are above 0%.

I'd prefer to see some information that one of these is non-zero in the Manage Galleries list.

Second that. Some sort of filter like this would be nice.

I have now seen the re-up thread ask to have two imageset galleries expunged as dups. Each request pointed to an original gallery. The first half of each dup gallery did indeed include pics with the same hash/size as pics from the original gallery but the second half of each dup gallery contained pics not in the original. I chose not to vote and stayed silent. My suggestion:
I wish there was a way to ask the site if any pic on the site existed in any other gallery on the site and to have those galleries listed. Two possible ways this could be done are either have a link on the bottom of a page displaying a pic called 'search the site for all galleries containing a file with the same filehash' or add a place on the site where one can paste the web page of a pic and it would tell us all galleries containing that pic (similar to file search).
This, of course, will only catch pics with the same filehash but it is another tool that could use to locate dup galleries.
(Currently this can be done by downloading the pic and using file search, but this adds extra steps to a process that can also be done with a single click of the mouse or a simple cut-and-paste.)

You don't need to download a picture in order to search for it. The file hash is part of the image URL, so all you need to do is cut and paste it into the file search URL, like this:
h t t p://g.e-hentai.org/?f_shash=<hash>

I'm full of ideas. That's my curse for being such a newbie.
Anyway, when a gallery is expunged, it doesn't really go away. There are several ways of being able to find it and have access to the images. Even when a gallery is expunged because the contents are illicit. And the doggie bag archiver still seems to work.
My suggestion. When a gallery is expunged, the images don't appear and doggie bag is disabled. This will allow people who have the gallery in their favorites to still have access to the expunge reasons and if it was expunged because of dupe or replacement, they can follow the link and add that gallery to their favorites.
I can think of rare occasions where someone would want to have access to the images for comparison/re-up reasons. If such reasons are valid, allow moderators or people above a certain power to still have access to the images.
