So, which is better, a Fine item, or a Superior item?

I have crude, fair, average, fine, and superior equipment, so I want to say fine=greater. Any other opinions?

I'd say Greater is better than fine.

Has anyone actually received a "greater" piece of equipment? If not, I'm inclined to say fine=greater since I already have a lot of equipment but no "greater" quality.

You're looking for equipment in the wrong place if it's from grindfest. I played to round 52 on hard and didn't get any equipment.
