I was going to comment in the auction itself but SOMEONE closed it (or it just be like that after some time) but I suspected I was paying more than my bid, lol. In any case, my last bid was the bid I was stopping on so the other guy won it, I can return it if it is so desired.

You can cancel your bid freely until one hour left(before 22:00(14:00 UTC)).
After 22:00(14:00 UTC) however, you can only cancel the bid which you post it within 5 minutes.

I think this policy is much too lenient on canceling bids. Consider someone like me, there is no way I could stay awake for 99% of your auction items because your auction ends at 05:00 am!

So someone who is right now indeed canceling his bids over mine could cancel his 100m bid on Peerless Ethereal Rapier of Slaughter at any time without penalty. This means I can't ever bid over him because of the possibility that his bid is not serious.

You should consider a new auction policy. For example, if canceling is not allowed within 24 hours of the end, then I can wake up, and I can know when his bid is serious, and I could bid over him on the last day.

1.The rule is "*When you cancel the bid, it means both your current and former bids on this item are cancelled. The current highest bid will return to the minimum winning bid (must be valid) from the second highest bidder." So if I cancel my 100m bid, it means you can get it @ your 88m bid, it's obviously good for you. Why do you have to pay a higher price? (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

2.One of Super's Auction Rules is "If you want an item, be courteous to other bidders by bidding early and consistently. " I think his words are correct.

3.If I canceled something, it's just because I found a better one. This is reasonable.

4.I think Peerless Ethereal Rapier of Slaughter is worth the price. Just like I gave up ascending-bidding Peerless Arctic Rapier of Slaughter @75m on Auction#154 because I think it’s not worth the price.

However, it won't be the case with every other bidder, and this auction was a great example to show a problem that could arise. Just last year, on a Peerless Demonic Rapier of Slaughter the same thing happened, and someone did also bid 100m and cancel, creating some complaints. This person was eventually partially banned from Superlatanium auction, when his behavior persisted for months.

But he was not completely dishonest either, and he had lots of money, about the same as us. It shows that when it comes to bidding, people should not be allowed to fool around, it can occasionally hurt the system for others.

To elaborate on another possible abuse, in defense of the idea of narrowing the window of opportunity for cancellations:

If one was to bid very highly at the very start of the auction, nobody is going to make any other valid bids on that item. Then if they cancel, the only valid bids would be any few that started before that, if there even were any.

Obviously, a player could use this to cancel and then bid lower, and only have to worry about much more limited competition (if you knew an item was already well above your price range, would you still watch it very closely at the last hour? or would you just give up and go to bed?).

Even though this would be easily spotted and the offender could be punished, there's also the possibility of a 2-man con, where the same behaviour is repeated either as a way to 'protect' an early low bid from being outbid, or by masking the intention of the cancellation by making it look like the other one was just a lucky fellow that turned up and paid attention at the last minute.

2-man would only make it a bit longer to spot and more people whipped after being exposed, worry not.
