I ran H@H without any problems a few years ago but then i had to move and the new internet was worse then what was needed to run H@H so i had to stop.
Now luckily we got fiber rolled out so i have great speeds and i thought i'd start using H@H again.

I downloaded and installed Java Version 8 Update 111 and restarted my computer.

From what i remember all you had to do was run the autostartgui.bat and H@H would open up in the taskbar with an icon and also in a GUI window

Now however all i get is the taskbar icon and no matter how much i right and left-click on it NOTHING happens.
I checked the FAQ and technical issues but my problem didn't seem to show up.

When i click on the HentaiAtHome.jar which presumably should open in a CMD the cache, data, download, log, and tmp folders get created where all of them are empty except for the log folder which has 2 files, log_err and log_out.
CODE

2016-12-01T18:27:03Z [ERR] {java.lang.Throwable$WrappedPrintStream.println(Unknown Source)}     at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)

note that after launching autostartgui.bat and/or HentaiAtHomeGUI.jar even after waiting several minutes NO folders are created whereas with HentaiAtHome.jar they get created instantly.

I might be missing something extremely obvious but being away from H@H for a few years seems to have remove any knowledge i might have had previously

Thanks

Looks like it's launching it with the query dialog to enter your client ID and key hidden for whatever reason. Kill any java processes in your task manager, then double-click HentaiAtHomeGUI.jar to start it. It should pop up a box to ask for id/key, but if it doesn't, check that it didn't get launched behind something else or on another monitor.

If it doesn't work, you could start it in CLI mode from a command prompt (java -jar HentaiAtHome.jar from the directory it's in) which would let you enter those.

I closed all the programs i could still nothing, restarted in safe mode with networking, still nothing.

The command prompt did work and it asked me for ID and passkey which i input. windows firewall then popped up and asked me to give permissions which i did.

now according to https://e-hentai.org/hentaiathome.php the client is running and my trust is going up.
But i still cannot load the GUI.

should i reinstall java and see if that helps?

Starting it with the bat file will make it start minimized to the systray, but starting it with the GUI jar file itself should make it start as a normal window.

If the latter really doesn't work, what you could try is to start the GUI from the command line with java -jar HentaAtHomeGUI.jar - this will give you two windows, and should make it obvious if it encounters some kind of error during GUI startup.

both the .bat and the GUI.jar start the icon in the taskbar and if i click one after the other i get multiple H@H icons but neither start a window and clicking the icon does nothing.

i tried to use cmd to open the GUI.jar. it opens a new icon in the taskbar but no window to be seen. the cmd window gives me a long list of errors and unknown sources

attached is the errors i got in the cmd window, it was too long for the comment here

Attached File  cmd_errors.txt ( 45.82k ) Number of downloads: 29

Looks like a bug in Java, or possibly a Java library file corruption or incompatibility. What OS are you using?

Definitely shouldn't be any compatibility issues with Win 10. You could try to reinstall Java, but if the Java library is broken on your PC, there's nothing to be done on the H@H side of things.

I did some poking around, and some bug reports for other projects that have run into this seem to indicate that it could be Java not handing certain custom Windows themes. If you are running a custom theme, try switching to the default one and see if you still get it.

I am indeed running a custom theme and going back to default seems to have fixed the problem.

Is there any fix for this or do i just have to run H@H w/o the GUI?

Seems to be defect in Java itself, so unless Oracle fixes it, it's likely a choice between the custom theme and the H@H GUI.

I guess ill just run H@H in the taskbar and disable my theme if i want to look up something in the GUI then.

Thanks for the help (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
