Holy/Dark has better base damage than elemental, but another thing needed to be taking into consideration is imperil, which gives -40% elemental mitigation but only -25% holy/dark mitigation. If we take that into account then obviously dark < elemental. Holy on the other hand has its proc which somehow balances the imperil difference, but the most important factor is that holy is not resisted by all the bulky monsters (anthropod, dragonkin, giant, reptilian, and undead), so speaking of average holy can clear a round faster than any other mages.
One of the advantage of dark over elemental is willow staff, which provides better depreciating proficiency and better dark EDB than redwood. But it is marginal: As soon as you got all mag or leg phase armors, the weapon's EDB doesn't matter a lot. I mean, at least doesn't matter that much compared to the -40% vs. -25% imperil difference.
Speaking of comparison between elemental then maybe elec>others due to its proc. But considering that you are only gonna to cast elec spells after imperil, the lowered resist chance sounds not that critical. The resistance of elemental mages are almost comparable. Fire might be a little worse than others, though.
Of course everything said above needs to be scaled with the price to get one set. At my level of course you don't want to waste all the credits to build holy mage.
Has been using 1H for a long time. Recently added a dark mage to clear *1 arena if I don't have time to play. Now considering building 2H with FRD. I need more researches to understand the relationship between action speed and extra turns to see if that is doable.
