QUOTE(Red_Piotrus @ Sep 15 2016, 17:44) Anything that decreases a gallery quality is not all right. There is an easy way to get rid of such nuisance: tag the gallery with a fjord tag. Yeah, it's not how they are supposed to be used, but you can remove it in few months, and the complainer, who likely doesn't know the fjords, won't see it. Or if you have already upload the new version, reupload the old one but add a fjord tag. May need to wait few days, or the tag nazis will vote it down. Another thing is, translate the gallery with decensored version, of course. Gallery affected is https://e-hentai.org/g/976142/88c90c5121/ huh? Well, the old version is still there... I am all for supporting the artists, but unless they can show me statistics of their income per dojin, and details of how they are sold, I don't give much credibility to claims that piracy hurts sales. On the contrary, the argument that piracy = viral marketing = boosts sales is at least as valid. Plus, thinking our work here is helping the artists (even if they don't' realize it) is making me sleep better at night (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) The few reasons I agree to update the gallery to this version is: 1. The old version is still there 2. He let's me do the censoring, so I went very light there 3. He doesn't really care about the gallery, it was the publishers who were going to issue the take down. He compromised with them and instead contacted me to do this instead of outright taking down the gallery. He said himself (In Chinese of course), "I use E-hentai myself, so I agree with the fact that galleries uploaded here help with increasing the artist's publicity. However the publishers were getting orders cancellation due to the book being uploaded here, and wanted to issue a take down. I compromised with them and instead convinced them to let me contact you to make some changes to the current gallery." How can I say no to him after that? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Besides, he might not know this, but I've met and talked to him several times in real life. So, it's kinda hard refusing his request. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) And to be honest, I rather listen to the artist's request rather than facing the publishing company. DISCLAIMER: I hate censoring with a fiery passion, and only did this out of respect for the artist's wish, and this way, the old uncensored version will still be there in the "Parent folder" for readers to view if they so desire. QUOTE(Kalevala @ Sep 15 2016, 15:34) I've thought about commissioning you to pick up event related things but I always keep missing the dates because my real life work has effectively given me some sort of stress related memory problem.
Haha I mostly do Taiwan-related events and doujins though, but thanks for considering me (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) QUOTE(Kalevala @ Sep 15 2016, 17:06) "You mean I actually have to PAY for you to get/translate the damn thing and then all the shipping costs and then for your time? This is bullshit and everything should be free"
Glad I'm not the only person suffering from these guys.
Yeah I got scammed once even, the should-be commissioner straight up refuse to pay when I finished translating his request into a script. Luckily I asked for the payment before sending him the script. From that moment on, I accept payment upon request rather than after completion. The script is still in my script folder, maybe I should get that edited someday...

Yeah it's a shame that Taiwan doesn't have a huge vendor like Mandrake to handle and access international market. But at the very least DLSite has just started their Taiwanese branch, I hope to see great potential for Taiwan artists to flourish there (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I thought the Re:Zero doujinshi was some freak thing but hopefully digital piracy will not drive artists away.

Fair enough, that changes things. I do agree with you about the best outcome then, and the artist is cool. Who is the publisher though? Are we talking about 2d-market? That's the only group that does decensored RAW releases as far as I know... QUOTE(Kalevala @ Sep 15 2016, 07:05) hopefully digital piracy will not drive artists away.
Well, the best thing to do is to post links to where one can buy the original work. It is also very cool to see some artists using PayPal like platforms for donations. Do we have a list of those who do so? I wouldn't mind going and posting relevant comments in all the galleries to drive some donations their way. And of course those of us who share RAWs should always use gallery description to publicize that info that way.

I meant the physical book publishing company, Taiwan's domestic market is so small that even a few order cancellations from the very few retailers could hurt a lot, I guess (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

I have recently updated my C90 Scans list earlier in the thread (linked in my signature).
All of my scans are currently on hold until I have received my replacement scanner to address the problems with my aged HP all-in-one unit.
I will likely resume with Kill Me Und Panzer when I have arranged the new setup. Thank you for your patience.

If you do this so much as once it will be the last time you ever tag anything on this site.

By the way what programs do you all scanners use to scan RAWs? I'm currently using ABBYY Finereader 12 Professional, but the scanner driver that I usually use (Plustek OpticSlim 2610 (TWAIN)) has gone bonkers after a Windows 10 update, and so far any attempts to fix the driver have been met with failure (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/anime_cry.gif) So now I'm using another driver instead (WIA-Flatbed Scanner(797) (TWAIN)) but its scanning quality is a bit inferior when compared to the previous driver (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) So what programs and drivers do you guys use? Maybe I'll change to those instead if they're better than the ones that I'm using right now (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Unless there's a newer driver on the manufacturer's website or support section for your particular printer, there's not much I can suggest other than rolling back to the older driver (assuming it worked fine). As for scanning software though, with my HP all-in-one and my newer Epson V600, I've been using the manufacturer software which I had to tweak to remove any kind of optical tricks, dust removal, or artificial sharpening (I'd prefer to leave these duties to an experienced editor with a keener eye if they ever get translated). Though my Epson scanner's software has some quirks that I'm having trouble getting used to compared to my old HP scanning software (a preview is not made visible in the software during the actual scan and I can only view the images as they're rendered on my Hard Drive). I would suggest looking into Vuescan or Silverfast scanning software if your printer's default software isn't cutting it. They're premium software so be aware of that. I'm considering these as well, but I need to do some more research into how they compare to Epson software before I make a decision. This post has been edited by 8055: Sep 24 2016, 17:04

I used Vuescan before, but it lacked a few features that I use frequently that my current software have. Goddamnit Windows 10 (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/anime_cry.gif) Oh well I just found another driver today, and it seems to be on par with my first driver, so all's well for now (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Oh yeah, I was gonna post that melonbooks booklet. [ mega.nz] https://mega.nz/#!IMsWGJII!5mYN7ojW...wv1v9NZRhNzztv8I edited it myself (and did a crappy job) because I remembered that my internet is garbage, and I didn't want to shut it down for 5 hours while I uploaded the raw scans.

QUOTE(chung2795 @ Sep 21 2016, 20:43) Misusing a tag is not optimal, but IMHO if a misued tag saves an otherwise valid gallery, it would be good to consider what is more valuable to the site: having a mistagged gallery, or not having a gallery at all. But fighting over such a marginal, hypothetical scenario is a waste of digital ink, and if anyone does like the idea and sees the need for it, the solution is that we should have a new tag for that. Since the entire fjord stuff was instituted on the higher level or decision making then vigilante (i.e. Tenbooro), anyone interested in this should PM him to see what he thinks of that. Since I doubt anyone sees a real need for such a tag, I do expect this idea will die here - for now, at least. Shrug. This post has been edited by Red_Piotrus: Sep 29 2016, 12:36
