Have been thinking about a music guess quiz for the next event but it has to be anti-shazam and shazam is goddamn good at detecting music, from my test results in the last 2 days. But I finally got an idea. No details here though (since there's none concrete for the time being), so stay tuned for it.

Is shazam really that good? I tried to find a few instrumental songs many years ago with it and got nothing, maybe it got better over time. If not you could try with instrumental versions of songs to try to fool it or you could always go the extreme route and get some good ole midis rolling for it (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

In some extreme cases, it recognized the song in 2 seconds, which was super impressive. Though I already have measures in place to prevent event participants from abusing easy songs that are shazam-able.

That's a ok with me since I commend efforts and if someone bothers to look shit up, he deserves the rewards. Efforts have always been the main focus of every single one of my events.

That's what the event is based on, you select places where to shoot and you sink enemy ships and win. In Ass Spanker's event instead of a square with letters and numbers specifying the ships positions there's only a line, a big line of 700+ dots which can be found in the spreadsheet.

So basically you guess what song is in what timestamp and that timestamp is the position your rockets will shoot. If you destroy the Spanker ships you win, everyone wins. It's basically everyone vs Overlord Spank and we don't have ships to be sunk so it's even simpler.

We're playing something like this:

TL;DR it's just finding the song names from my ultra long anime song medley. Low barrier, high ceiling as my other giveaways (hopefully).
You can literally copy someone's answer and that puts your name into the waitlist for participation prizes shared between everyone. But for the max profit, you need to understand the game design and put in some thoughts behind your guesses.

Well as long as you sort of now what is the song in certain timestamp I don't see why AS would reject it, actually even incorrect ones might count for something. And I already listened to it and it doesn't seem there's anything newer than 2016 and there's lots of popular and mainstream stuffs so with 750+ pieces surely there must be at least one you know. Maybe. Give it a try in any case.

Well you can if you want from what I can see although there's a shared pool so it's beneficial to cover as much ground as possible, and it seems by doing so your participation prize gets halved and your shots don't seem to count as rockets so no ship loot either, but then this was added:

Watch out for people's guesses and intercept an early attempt to sink a ship, taking their loot from them.

Earlier one gets it all, later one gets half a participation prize. What I roughly meant by that tip is that if you see someone keep making successful shots at the same region later in the game, you can kill steal if there are not a lot of free slots left and you know where the ship boundaries are.
