I regret trying to level up slowly. I tried to minimize exp i get until ~lvl220 (when PFUDOR REs became 100% doable regardless of spirit attack rng). Sure, i got more drops and all that, but imo its not worth enduring tough matchups for so long when you can breeze through difficult phase of the game. And I have no idea why would you want to go slow after that: the higher your level the faster you complete arenas, at least thats how it is for me despite my terrible gear management.

Well, my strategy was always: "Race to the Top". See how fast I could make it to lv500. And that worked very well for me. In no time I was at lv400, then I went full cold mage, and I made a nice income per week. Lv400 is great because you can soulfuse all those lv500 gears. Made lv 500 within 1 year 9 months. I got all the AL training, and all the EXP perk, plus 2 awards, plus a shitload of stars.

We could conclude that there are some players who are happy to stay lower level, and that there are some players who are happy to race to high level. That means we have two types of happiness in the game. That can't be bad, right?

If that would be all, i guess we could. But both types gives different suggestions when they are asked about how to play the game. And how would you now decide when you got advice from one of them? Of course you would thank them and do as you have told, because why would you think that there would be two types of happiness in this game? (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

Mainly because it was one of suggestions on the first page in ask the experts topic, and, well, it sortof made sense: more drops, more money, better equipment. The problem is: slightly better equipment didn't make much of a difference, forging to level 5 doesn't make any difference either. I just wasted my time, thats it: i don't think it helped me to get through the difficulty spike. What would tho:if i was told how fucking important sp tank ability is and that i should get IA1 asap and slot it with spark.

It's like religions. One family believes in a deity, and believing makes them happy. Another family believes in another deity, and that makes them happy. All's fine. Then a new neighbor arrives. Come join our religion says the first family. No, come and join our religion, says the second family. Then they start fighting, making everybody unhappy.

So if you strongly believe in a HV strategy, and you are asked for advice, always point out the merits of other strategies as well. That way we can all remain happy, and include new happy members in our happy little community of joy.

The problem is: it's true that you have more chances to get better equipment earlier.
But you have to rely on RNG luck so, you can be fucked anyway.
So it's better off to level up, to increase your abilities, tankiness, and access to higher level (better and cheaper) equipments.
Even at the cost of becoming slower above lv 400, once you've got a very good gear, and you keep leveling up with the same set.

QUOTE(chjj30 @ Apr 2 2018, 16:40) *

Sorry, I'm serious. What I can do is to use my Experience to make advice, and I'm not forcing People to do anything I've said. What I can do is to list the Advantages and Disadvantages (not much) for Leveling up, that I've experienced, the Players must choose and learn themselves, not only from me, but also from all the other Players here. If you think the Players like me can't "play" or "enjoy" this Game, that's my Answer: "I've enjoyed much from the Game selbst and from the Communication with other Players in this Forum those Years, and thank you for Caring about me. Even if that's not your Will, I'm still thankful."

I have never said that you did not enjoy the game. I was mostly saying that many, many players are completely besides the point by focusing on futile things, discarding what's actually interesting/fun. And that by advising one to go the XP race route, there is a high risk of the one who receives the advice to find himself in that tragedy.

One could argue that it'd be the case anyway, since some player's only motivation is "getting better equipment".

As for the other players who replied:
If you did not fall in the trap and managed to net something anyway, that's a good thing. But each and every of you seems to forget that you took an enormous amount of time/credits to reach where you are, and you probably have some steady income that helps, besides the credits and equips you drop. Dunno how it is for you, but for someone who doesn't have anything like this, obtaining 10M takes months.

Well, yes.
For post brevity I didn't put all the story behind my strategy decisions. I do wanted to level up fast (and I did it) at first, up to lvl 100-120. I don't regret that, I just regret that I spent credits in AL while doing that, because you really don't need it to level up fast when you're so low. I coulkd have done the same without AL and use those credits better. Now I have other reasons to slow my pace, but once I have reached my targets, I will change my strategy again.

I was merely pointing out that leveling up fast is not necessarily a strategy always good at all levels and for all.
Gotta be flexible with strategies. And since once you spend credits to train AL, you cannot undo the training nor recover the credits if you change idea later, imho it's better to wait to do that later, when you know the game and your decisions are more sensible and less "gut feeling".

I myself will do, in future, when it will be both more useful and easily affordable.

And yes SP tank ability is important, but IA1 & 2 is the real difference, especially after lv.200 but also before that, between having to go through much pain even at lower difficulties and playing almost comfortably even with shit equip like I'm doing.

If there is a suggestion I'd tell to everyone who starts HV is this, do whatever it takes to get IA1 & IA2 as soon as you can (IA3 can wait, at least for styles like 1H). And if you wanna mage, do it for fun with crap equip at lowest diificulty, but use another style for serious (income) play, or else ...

All other comments were more along the line of "do it carefully, watch what you can afford", nothing really much exciting to get such harsh criticism on your oart imho (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

No, google as god could not work. Religion today is mostly something to superelevate yourself above someone other. But because most people use google anyway, above who could you elevate yourself above? (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

It's upon his/her Style and Choice, what they want and what they finally will do, our Advice isn't that powerful that can be something with "a high Risk". And there are not only one of us gives Advice. If I advise that someone can train some Adapt Lerner, I don't force them to get all the 300 Level immediately; if I advise that someone should look for better Equipments, I don't force them to get the final Set immediately. If they choose to take this Kind of Advice, they can still do everything slowly, as they want and as they like. And, if someone says at the Beginning that he or she likes play just as you do, I may won't give him or her the same Kind of Advice.

I don't really care about my level. there are pros and cons for everything. I habe Adept Learner at 300 and Thinking Cap hath perk. Soon I'm gonna buy Mentats.
It's not because I want to level faster, but because I think there's no point in staying low level.
On the other hand, I could level much faster by simply playing more, but I see no point in racing through levels either.
Once you reached 300, levels don't mean that much anymore.

You will regret once you reach lv400~lv450 unless you switch to mages. The new patch is more biased toward mages. End-game melees take years to complete DwD. I only have 1 leg slaughter, I only need 4000turns, but end-game players like Santa and uncle they need almost 5000turns with full slaughters.

Unless you have gears like Petal-Kiss or Blackjac has, you can finish DwD in 3200~3500turns as melee. Otherwise

Leveling up to lv300 is fast and easy, and since there are only a few good equipments below lv300 you should be leveling up to somewhere around lv300 or maybe lv350 . But better make a plan on whether you should rush to lv400 or even higher.

I feel like the only thing that made me poor when leveling was investing too much in training. Even then, I probably still wouldn't go back and change it, I would just adopt my recent system of only investing the money I make from PA's into training.
