a couple weeks ago i asked some average rares to check, and i noted that the balance was quite positive. not worth to do for a handful items, but if you start to purchase them in a FOS-like fashion, use cells yourself and sell the exceeding ones you may earn quite a bit.

Yes, I thought about it, but from a first quick&dirty sum up it seemed to me the cost vs gain was barely balacing (if the ones selling where choosing well their return material, of course).

Well, an Avg Shade slavaged gives two energy cell @ 180 and 4 scrap leather you can get for as low as 60.
That means 600c for an avg (condition 75% or so) that you can sell to bazaar for around 360c, or ask 3 MGL from him that are around 200c each in WTBs.
For fair/crude it should be better to exchange, and avg is barely on a par.

however, there's the chance he raised prices meanwhile. or i was lucky and earned a bit more cells than that.
either way, if you do such a thing your aim is to earn cells and counting on an average net profit. feel free to point out if i'm wrong, of course.

2. The minimum quality of rares is Average. There is no such thing as Crude/Fair rare except in very old obsoletes
3. You often get up to 4 or even 5 energy cells out of a single rare, on top of a decent amount of scraps.
4. The vast majority of players doesn't have the Coupon Clipper perk
5. Both MGL and HGL are worth around 100-250C/mat. Even LGM can sell at 100/200c/mat. 350/500 for MGM.
6. If there was no profit to make out of that, he wouldn't do it.

Well, I think you must be right after all, I judged on the results of scrapping 4/5 avg rares but going for high numbers of them may give different results, especially since I saw Decon post (I never got more then 2 cells until now, but if that is not always so, my calcs are off obviously).

BTW, I don't remember anything in Wiki about the shade/phase/power avg salvage giving lots of cells, is my memory bad or it just mention normal equip scrapping ?

1) He offers you the choice between LGL, MGL, LGM and MGM so it's up to you to choose wisely (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)
2) I merely cited his WTT, rare fair and crude are explicitly mentioned there
3) I have always got only 2 cells until now (but I have scrapped only 4/5 rares until now, so I didn't now they could give more). That's not written in the Wiki, btw. And with what chance you get more then 2 ? Not big chance, I surmise. I'd like to see statistics for that (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
4) That just means they have to look in WTS for people who have and sell you cells @180 without profit for service (there are a few).
5) MGL and HGL lower then 200c is not easy to find in WTS now. It's possible in auctions, but quantity in packs are huge so total sum also. Not something for low lv poor players.
6) He could do it as not-for-profit help to poor players, recovering just a bit less then expenses on average (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/heh.gif)

A big share of the playerbase fails to consider the amount of time it takes to get those profits/shares out of the various activities you can see around the forums, and fails even more at comparing the benefit/time ratio. For my part i'd certainly be richer if I spent more time just playing the game instead of running my shops.
