Yeah the second time bleed was potentially good was when pfudor was first introduced and the damage was nerfed because bleed was ticking faster but then the ticking was also fixed...

I am not sure about bleed. Maybe if you can get the right build? However its 5 hits for it to tick more dmg.

I also find my slow ninten build takes more dmg because of just getting him more :X though it does clear a bit faster.

The damage balance dynamics were pretty up/down.

I believe at bleed's peak performance, END was the most broken stat. Turtle gear was insanely powerful since someone discovered you could just go crazy on the +END and your phys/magic immune became something close to 99%

My comment about 1 tick = sufficient was for the past bleeds.

T changed the bleed mechanic for multi stack + base on dmg to dissuade people from doing the turtling strat. I believe he also simultaneously (or in short time before/after) nerfed the broken END stat. In him doing so he essentially simplified the metagame where attack was king and here we are today.

Strat dynamics were pretty interesting back then.
Speed clears = Slaughter Scythe + Power Slaughter
High difficulty long clears (primarily IWBTH and possibly PFUDOR - don't remember if it existed at the time, grindfests = Balance / Illithid / Banshee Scythe with max bleed + Protective Gear)
And going by memory I think DW was the fastest boss killer Melee had to offer. Bunko (now on the moon) used to do experiments all the time on killing IWBTH FSM in less than 10 turns or something.
I think Shade+Estoc was a pretty viable strat back then as well

Yes nowadays the ideal for a bleeder seems to be Power Slaughter if you're maximizing damage... But the question is whether you'll be able to balance survivability with that emphasis on damage since bleed is simply an extension of damage now. Furthermore, you'd question whether it's better to just use an estoc.

Think I kinda recall that PFUDOR glitch about the ticking speed... Yeah that was weird...

Yeah thats the problem also estoc may just be better. Theoretically there may be some combo due to the two weapons that gives an advantage due to higher parry or higher crit or higher PA?

or not. *shrugs*

@mundomuñeca no such thing as glorious. and to be fair i'm not rich. since everything goes to bounties

@esotericsatire you mean for DW? i haven't done DW forever so i'd be the wrong person to ask but if i let my imagination run for a bit i'd imagine

axe/club are typically highest weapon damage
rapier has the PA (which is pretty much mandatory at high level melee play)

club gives the stun that'd bypass monster evade/parry
axe iirc has higher weapon damage than club by a small degree and has the +bleed mechanic

do a little handwaving+rounding and i'd say yeah axe+rapier or club+rapier should be roughly the same effectivity for boss killing.

for mass mob killing i think any DW combination would be pretty torturous.

Yeah thats the problem also estoc may just be better.

i don't have an estoc of slaughter yet, but if my tests and calculations with shade armour and an estoc of the vampire from bazaar are sound, estoc is somewhat faster than longsword in non-SG arenas while performance in SG arenas is similar between the two, with longsword maybe having a slight advantage (as long as you turn off haste and speed ability to make the most of BW)

Correct. But note that dot for 1 handed weapons is worse than 2 handed. With 20% dot, it deals 66.66% damage than 30% one. Besides, stun, pa, & light armor appreciate speed which cripples the bleed. I reasonably don't recommend it.

mmm yes the most synergestic would stun+pa for a speed build since the mechanics behave similiarly (benefiting from speed)

bleed+pa is slightly hypocritical esp if you go power armor for +dmg maximization since you're basically some heavy armor dude with 2 weaps. i'd imagine that'd be the hardest hitting OFC possible but it may be a struggle to stack PA stacks?

no better way to find out than to experiment (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)

as for the estoc. is there any vaiability in estoc+power right now? i dont have any high end power to test and my estocs are all oldschool ones so theyre weaksauce

Stacking pa is easy even at low speed, raising speed is beneficial because inflicting it faster means killing faster* & nothing hurt. Actually it's also beneficial for bleed, but based on system timeline, not the real one, so it's absolutely correct if people say that bleed does very little damage™ especially if they use haste. For stun, it's beneficial since stun isn't refreshable, so prolonging it is good, & again nothing hurt.

I'm having bad experience with light, full shadowdancer. It's like forging past 7 or 10 gives me nothing. The market reflects it correctly.
Just tried estoc as well. I forgot when the last time i rotated cure, full cure, potion, & elixir in single round like this lol. Might be better if i solfused & forged it.

*correction: killing faster than the mobs. Translating uses big part of my brain duh.

Edited again: spreading pa is way more painful than attacking normally. Can't cope with ofc.

Longsword is best played with Power armor, if it's not ethereal, period.

you should just level up and do arenas. you get a lot of easy credits just doing a "first clear" of an area on normal

At our level, when getting precursor artifacts, it's better to sell them then to shrine them. You can sell for around 22k each instead of betting with shrining, it's a better source of income then it appears at first.

Also trophies, user blacjac00 in WTB pays good.

Is there a better way to farm? I've just been going into everything with heavy armor, 1H/Shield and just bashing everything and healing, repeat.

What do people actually consider poor these days? I get that if you're comparing to Followers of Snowflake, yeah, most people are poor.

But man, before I started playing again recently I remember almost purchasing a Superior Ethereal Mace of Slaughter for 1.2M credits. Now? I can get Magnificent's for 1/2 a day's worth of arenas. I feel like everyone is rich.

In terms of farming credits, I feel like people should be clearing 100k/day pretty easily at my level just from completing arenas on normal.

Extremely conservatively:
Arena Clears = 18,000
3-4 artifacts/day = 80,000
Credit drops = 1114 rounds X 30/round, round to 34,000
Equip selling/salvaging = 20,000 , assuming you don't get anything sellable
Miscellaneous potions/crystals, just assume 0 even though untrue.

Didn't even count the blackjack trophy farm.

Maybe this is just like, how a time traveler would feel if they came from a time without water pumps and discovered a faucet, and I'm an old man who just doesn't realize where the goals are at for people in this game.

When you have a faucet, you want something that makes water magically fly into your mouth instead of physically turning the faucet yourself.
