Poverty is when one single piece of equipment is worth ten time your budget.
Poverty is when you are close to lv 400 and you haven't even 1m credits.
Poverty is when you want to do something and you don't have the funds.
Misery is bad (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/cry.gif)

I think reasonable, after all, everything is very expensive in this game (a single unit may not, but we need several to upgrade). It is a value that gives to survive from day to day, but you can not invest high in a single item.

So I'll try to improve my idea ::

below 1m ---> very poor
between 1m and 3m ---> poor
between 3m and 10m ---> middle class (ranging from low to high)
between 10m and 30m ---> rich
above 30m ---> very rich

And this only in terms of credits (excluding hath and GP).

I am also not considering amounts already invested in upgrade, purchase of equipment, training and perks hath purchased.

bad luck
I think these pretty much makes me a poor player in general

Its not wholly accurate but it might give a rough picture on what is poor.
I'd say anyone in the bottom 25th percentile is poor, which means 100k and below.

If his money is insufficient to maintain the lifestyle he wants, then I guess you could say he's poor, in the context of HV and this thread at least. Since the amount of people in HV actually stuck in a poverty trap is almost nonexistant.

Max was 44M for gold star, then BOOM. Back to 2M.
Gold star with only credits from HV is still poor.
Bought one from blackjac at 42M just 1 month ago. But he seems to increase the price to over 50M now that BTC value is getting higher.

Making a sum of all the credits you've spent doesn't give you a correct output of your income.

Sure you spent 100+ m, maybe even 300.

But now think...if you didn't invest or spend a single credit from the start, how many credits will you have?
Hardly a tenth, probably less. Depending on how many hours you play.
Equipment and perks don't determine if a person is rich or poor.
But how much credits such person can make with those instruments.
Or doing nothing at all.

A person making 50-100 hath/day without moving a finger is rich.
A person with fully upgraded endgame gear doing millions per day in one hour or two is rich.

A person with a gold star, basic perks, 30m worth of equipment, doing 200-300k a day playing a couple of hours...is this rich?

I have read pretty much the entire thread since it was created. However, I have not posted because I don't think I'm that poor player, but also because I don't have much extra credits to donate every time I post either (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/heh.gif)

I have seen at least few interesting discussions I might have replied to in this thread. In my opinion there is no absolute measurement of poorness since it's relative, just like in real life. However, if you really want to set some numbers in stone, I think this post is pretty close:

It seemed a bit too high for me too, i was going more based on Stulpen estimations.
How does this look, instead?

poor ---> between 100k and 200k
lower middle class ---> between 200k and 350k
upper middle class ---> between 350k and 500k

I saw it in one of the WTB threads, but can't remember the user name.

The criteria of being poor is still unclear anyway.

Additionally, another topic that could be eventually useful/interesting is the establishing of a relative scale of poverty/richness, based on more or less objective (or at least comparable) measures of both Stock of Wealth (what you have) and Flow of Wealth (incomes/expenditures), all agreed upon by collective discussion.

Now everyone can vote/decide the purpose of thread form these.
These should be mentioned on Front post of Thread.

But most important thing is to define poor.
Just saying that it is subjective will lead this thead again to emojies and spam.

Poor People must be Clear cut defined like.

It is wrong because i remember when i first opened this thread i was baffled to see the arrogance of all Gold star players that they were calling themselves poor.
At that time it looked like Gold star players are here just to make fun of Poor peoples.
At that moment I was not even able to make 1K credits.

And I want this thread to survive as this is the place where i got my first useful advice to came out of poverty.

So First thing we should do is to clearly define "Poor People" in terms of credits one can make per week.

well, i don't think all of them are proper topics. but a couple of good starting points indeed...

We the defence, we have put forward many many arguments to keep this thread, but scree the prosecutor has not put forward ANY evidence as to why the thread should be closed.

What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty? I call for a summary dismissal of this case, and for all court costs to be born by the prosecution... Costs somewhere in the league of 100k to each defendant (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I think it's a thread of emotional relief that one is oriented around the game. After all this is a community, this implies that there will be times when that community wants to express its opinion among themselves. This thread fulfills this role of consolation, and more so when we talk about the issue of poverty. In conclusion it is necessary to keep it open ^^
