- Philosophical discussion on what it means to be Poor.
- History lessons on the economic landscape of HV in the past.
- Discussion of incidents involving amazing displays of wealth.
- Discussion of incidents involving sorrowful displays of poverty.
- Promoting the financial merits of having a gold star.
- Financial Advice (Ask the Experts can do this but let's say we're a more specialized place to ask)

You're nice. Though Goldage didn't limit it to poor people in the first place. The criteria of being poor is still unclear anyway.

Also approve the idea!!! (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) (Or should I cry!? (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/anime_cry.gif) (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/cry.gif) )
In my opinion, anything below 3m is poverty (I could only get above once, and for a few minutes (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/heh.gif) ).
You've discovered the secret identity of the Snowflakes!? (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

QUOTE(redphil @ Jun 5 2016, 22:02) *

Below 3m is poverty?

Damn rich folk like you don't know what poverty is.

I say anything below 40k is poverty.
That's when level 5 on Archaeologist is nothing more than a pipe dream.

That's when you yearn for an energy drink just so you can buy a few measly crystals to help your army of 2 monsters get the will to soldier on.

That's when you use a calculator to figure how many moldy health draughts you can buy to fight just one battle and die miserably on the next to the last round.

3m.... (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) You rich folk have no clue. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

QUOTE(redphil @ Jun 5 2016, 22:14) *

Ahh come on... You remember the day every credit went to training.

When you would watch every round to see if you were up to 146,890 credits to get a "6/20".
And as soon as you got there.... boom!... you were back down to 126 credits only to yearn for "7/20" for a mere 218,388 credits.

Yeah... you remember. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Now "that's" poverty!

QUOTE(ppp82p @ Jun 5 2016, 22:30) *

Poverty is when one single piece of equipment is worth ten time your budget.
Poverty is when you are close to lv 400 and you haven't even 1m credits.
Poverty is when you want to do something and you don't have the funds.
Misery is bad (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/cry.gif)

QUOTE(Basara Nekki @ Jun 5 2016, 22:38) *

I think reasonable, after all, everything is very expensive in this game (a single unit may not, but we need several to upgrade). It is a value that gives to survive from day to day, but you can not invest high in a single item.

So I'll try to improve my idea ::

below 1m ---> very poor
between 1m and 3m ---> poor
between 3m and 10m ---> middle class (ranging from low to high)
between 10m and 30m ---> rich
above 30m ---> very rich

And this only in terms of credits (excluding hath and GP).

I am also not considering amounts already invested in upgrade, purchase of equipment, training and perks hath purchased.

QUOTE(Sweetness Overload @ Jun 6 2016, 04:17) *

Ping problem
insufficient cash
poor gears
bad luck
I think these pretty much makes me a poor player in generalAttached Image

QUOTE(LOL50015 @ Jun 6 2016, 07:47) *

Would I dare ask, how in the world would be in the giving end?

Edit:
And how people who are interested in the financial state of HV players, here's a poll I made on player income:

https://forums.e-hentai.org/index.php?showtopic=191919

Its not wholly accurate but it might give a rough picture on what is poor.
I'd say anyone in the bottom 25th percentile is poor, which means 100k and below.

QUOTE(LOL50015 @ Jul 26 2017, 02:59) *

If his money is insufficient to maintain the lifestyle he wants, then I guess you could say he's poor, in the context of HV and this thread at least. Since the amount of people in HV actually stuck in a poverty trap is almost nonexistant.

QUOTE(as013 @ Jul 26 2017, 16:54) *

Max was 44M for gold star, then BOOM. Back to 2M.
Gold star with only credits from HV is still poor.
Bought one from blackjac at 42M just 1 month ago. But he seems to increase the price to over 50M now that BTC value is getting higher.

QUOTE(End Of All Hope @ Jul 27 2017, 17:44) *

I see a lot of incorrect statements in this thread (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/duck.gif)

Making a sum of all the credits you've spent doesn't give you a correct output of your income.

Sure you spent 100+ m, maybe even 300.

But now think...if you didn't invest or spend a single credit from the start, how many credits will you have?
Hardly a tenth, probably less. Depending on how many hours you play.
Equipment and perks don't determine if a person is rich or poor.
But how much credits such person can make with those instruments.
Or doing nothing at all.

A person making 50-100 hath/day without moving a finger is rich.
A person with fully upgraded endgame gear doing millions per day in one hour or two is rich.

A person with a gold star, basic perks, 30m worth of equipment, doing 200-300k a day playing a couple of hours...is this rich?
Nah, it's miserable (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/heh.gif) (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/cry.gif)

And it can be extremely funny around here.

Example... Have you ever seen a poor player make it rain money??

I have read pretty much the entire thread since it was created. However, I have not posted because I don't think I'm that poor player, but also because I don't have much extra credits to donate every time I post either (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/heh.gif)

I have seen at least few interesting discussions I might have replied to in this thread. In my opinion there is no absolute measurement of poorness since it's relative, just like in real life. However, if you really want to set some numbers in stone, I think this post is pretty close:
QUOTE(gianfrix94 @ Nov 2 2016, 04:08) *

It seemed a bit too high for me too, i was going more based on Stulpen estimations.
How does this look, instead?

very poor ---> under 100k
poor ---> between 100k and 200k
lower middle class ---> between 200k and 350k
upper middle class ---> between 350k and 500k
rich ---> between 500k and 1m
very rich ---> over 1m

This seems kind of right, to me.

It's said by a HV Chat moderator too (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/duck.gif)

Now that I made the mistake of replying to this thread, I'll donate 100k to the next 2 non-Star players who want it. Not more than that, because I'm not rich (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/cry.gif)

On this point, I saw just a couple hours ago a post of someone asking for historical information on Hath & GP market prices. He was willing to buy that information paying in credits (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

I saw it in one of the WTB threads, but can't remember the user name.

QUOTE(Dead-ed @ Sep 2 2017, 14:34) *

Additionally, another topic that could be eventually useful/interesting is the establishing of a relative scale of poverty/richness, based on more or less objective (or at least comparable) measures of both Stock of Wealth (what you have) and Flow of Wealth (incomes/expenditures), all agreed upon by collective discussion.

P.S. Sorry for the double-post, but these where two unrelated replys and it tookmy hand. Will not do it anymore (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

These are some really good topics
.
Anyone of these must satisfy reason of it's existence.
Now everyone can vote/decide the purpose of thread form these.
These should be mentioned on Front post of Thread.

But most important thing is to define poor.
Just saying that it is subjective will lead this thead again to emojies and spam.

Poor People must be Clear cut defined like.

Now everyone before debating or explaining more
First at least clearly state "Poor people"

And i think below definition of poor is wrong. it is too vague .
QUOTE(LOL50015 @ Sep 1 2017, 19:39) *

"Poor = you lack the financial ability to archive your desired standard. Eg. You want a Lamboghini but can only afford a Prius".

above destination is for people who spend more than they earn. but they are not poor in anyterm
It is wrong because i remember when i first opened this thread i was baffled to see the arrogance of all Gold star players that they were calling themselves poor.
At that time it looked like Gold star players are here just to make fun of Poor peoples.
At that moment I was not even able to make 1K credits.

And I want this thread to survive as this is the place where i got my first useful advice to came out of poverty.

So First thing we should do is to clearly define "Poor People" in terms of credits one can make per week.
otherwise this discussion is going no-where

I think it's a thread of emotional relief that one is oriented around the game. After all this is a community, this implies that there will be times when that community wants to express its opinion among themselves. This thread fulfills this role of consolation, and more so when we talk about the issue of poverty. In conclusion it is necessary to keep it open ^^
