Dont worry guys, even at 50 you can start to learn new stuff and got decent result. Moreover it becomes easier, because with time even if dont want then you still learn something and it helps in other spheres too. If we speak about money, then you can get a bit rich if spin in right place. In my city if job is actual and require knowledge then it can make x2-x3 of average salary, rarely x5 and yea, it can allow to live closer to center. Thats mostly all. Not so many people have very expensive hobby or something. All expensive stuff is real estate. But if someone wanna really become rich, then the only way is business. And should be ready to spend all time. And by that i really mean all time, because its not only working hours, but also time before and after time, vacation time and all other time. If not ready then its only question about small difference.
So its actually better to pick something you like and make with that money. You know there are huge amount of jobs you can do? Ive even seen something like homemade furry costumes. Thats not so cheap and actually popular enough.
In Equestria maybe. In my country, certainly not. Once you're above 50, just forget about finding a job in a new branch. Companies see what is called "return on investment" and won't invest in someone who will soon be retired anyway.
But it really is sad when that happens. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) For example, I even "dreamed" of bidding on those 2 Peerless Force, but when I saw the numbers and the people involved, I gave up. But someday I can. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Seeing how Nec mentioned selling furry costumes, I think he meant going the self-employment route.

Yeah, especially losing to some guy who won't even be using it.
The most important thing is to give it all and have no regrets.
I once lost a bid war with Set0 over a pair of peerless frugal gloves. I still think about it sometimes and wonder if things would have been different had I kept fighting. This song sums up my emotions pretty well:
I even "dreamed" of bidding on those 2 Peerless Force
oh, i did it at the start (i did, right? (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) ) but past a certain point the ROI would've been really too low. unless you want to brag, of course. thanks, but no thanks.

hey, hey. keep this kind of thoughts for things that are actually worth it.
like, for example, if you went there that time rather than not. or if you didn't insist so much with her. or if you didn't make that question when they were offering you that job. of if you insisted a bit more with another her. or if you remembered to check which version of the resume you were sending. or if you went to her directly asking her (another one) to go out, rather than with a dumb question. or if you remembered the whole formula, rather than only a mere piece. and so on...

Like I always say (translated): "One does not make his life with ifs, never regret anything, learn from your mistakes and look toward the future with what you have in your hands right now".

exactly. so, if you have to keep an "if", don't keep it for an equip on some internet game (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)
You mean to a hair's breadth? Let me calculate. Too much to die and too less to life. Yeah i know the real translation would be barely enough to keep body and soul together, but that just dont say the same thing.
How much does everyone here earn per month? I'm feeling like a loser for still leeching money off my parents.
>.>
If this pisses people off, I will remove. All numbers in USD.
I receive disability from injuries received while serving in my country's (United states) military. along with all medical services, prescriptions, etc paid for 100%. This includes new injuries, accidents, and illnesses, including optional treatments. Plus I receive 1470/month, tax exempt, adjusted yearly for the cost of living.
I am self employed, as literally nowhere would hire me after separating from service. This year I'm averaging around 8,000/month in revenue. Being self employed, I get to write off ALOT of expenses. I have an assistant whom I have paid around 9,000 so far this year. In short, I'm making more this year than I did last year.
Last year, I have ~75,000 in revenue, but wrote off 50,000 in expenses. My actual expenses were closer 15,000. Huzzah US tax code.
So, in my pocket, I put around 77,000 last year and paid ~4700 in taxes. This year will probably be closer to 95,000 in my pocket and 10,000 in taxes.
Also, my mortgage is less than 700/month.

Wealthy, no. I have a bit of a spending problem, I like good food and sharing said good food with what few friends I do have; I probably spend around 1500 a month of eating out. I don't look too closely because I really don't want to know how much I spend >.<. My net worth is only around 50 or 60k.
I would place myself as solidly middle class or upper-working class.
Yea, usually if you have close to average city`s salary then saving is almost impossible and if you have higher then you can do only with holding previous style of life.
