QUOTE(lestion @ Jun 1 2019, 03:15) Could some (imperil) mages capable of consistent full pfests post their stats, as well as whether they need any consumables to do so? Also any changes to their usual strategy that are necessary. Thank you.
Well of course imperil mage need consumables! As cold mage it took me 1hr 20 min. With scrolls infusion and spirit elixirss. Dark imperil mage, much stronger set, could do 1hr imperil style. Same consumables

Does it break even in how much it uses, or not even close?

Given my current 1h38 as 1H, which I can reduce with more BoS, that doesn't make me want to switch to mage for PFFEST... (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

QUOTE(mustardpie @ Jun 1 2019, 13:27) My stats atm. I'm curious as to how I'm doing for my level?
I have just compared your stats with those i had around your level and assuming that i did okay, i would say you do too. But to do great i will now tell you something i wished something would have told me. You should slowly start forging your equipment. But of course not those parts you plan to replace soon, because if you just use one BoS on something, you wont get that one back with salvaging, it will just be lost and that really feels shitty.

I've been putting off forging because of that. I didn't want to waste materials. But maybe I should start working on some of my soulbound equipment. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

(IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) But when you at least use two BoS, you allready got one back. Salvage does work like you loose 10% of the materials and bindings you did use. So when you just upgrade your equipment to 6. Salvaging does really bite you in the ass because you loose all the bindings you did use. But when you upgrade to 20, you get 13 of the 15 used bindings back. So please dont think you loose everything, you only loose something. And the difference is really worth it, i promise. You do need to forge at some point you know. At least as a step before getting the real deal. The typical example is forging your low-cost elemental mage before gathering enough to switch for Dark/Holy, or for (way) better elemental gear.
I agree that it's possible to delay the moment when you will start forging. I have even done so myself for quite a long time because I was quite poor. But you also have to take into account the amount of time you'll be wasting because you haven't forged. I don't regret a tiny bit my initial investment in my cool mage setup (that I've assembled quite late) for that exact reason, even if today it's taking dust in my inventory. It eventually self-paid and allowed me to play what I really wanted in the beginning.
And, let's be honest: forging does feel satisfying, and it's always a pleasure to feel stronger in battle thanks to that.

I recently started playing the game again from about level 200. I also recently switched from Heavy to Light armor so I'm not really rocking optimal stuff. I probably have better equipment for playing 1H Shield but I absolutely can't stand playing that style, it's just SOOOO slow and boring for me. Anyway the switch to Light was painful at first, but now I can mostly play on IWBTH without issue. My style mostly relies on having an old Mace that I've been told has poor stats, but the stun chance is high for a Mag (29%). I don't have any Hath perks so I have to spend the first few rounds getting my buffs up. I prefer to get some overcharge before I start casting buffs so that I can do so from Spirit Stance but I'm particularly fragile before they're up so sometimes I just have to compromise. My general order of priority is: Protect > Haste > Regen > Shield > Veil > Spark I almost always get Channeling from one of those and use it to cast Heartseeker. I'll cast Absorb if I happen to get Channeling and none of my buffs are short on turns, otherwise I tend to ignore it. Once there are at least 6 monsters per round I aim to repeat this cycle: Spirit Stance with 250% > Last hit > New round > Rending Blow C > Shatter Strike C > End Spirit Stance and attempt to get back to 250% before the next round starts. I chug droughts as needed and use potions in emergencies. It's fairly stable but I'm sure I could be playing better.

If you need any advice on the current version, let me know. And don't salvage you old gear! Oh... just saw your post in the fuckup thread. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I also shrined everything which included at least 10 ponies and probably some other useful trophies (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) The game is certainly much better now than the last time I remember playing... which was a paradigm where items were limited use and thus most of what I'm doing now would have been impossible. And of course even that was a HUGE upgrade from the dark ages when you had to wait for your health/mana to regen out of battle. This post has been edited by bbobjs: Jun 18 2019, 22:04

Oh, dont worry, ponies are not that special of expansive and if you didnt acually shrine some obsolute trophies it does not matter at all. So lets hope we are just talking about common trophies. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)

Fortunately, I don't think I had any particularly rare trophies. I think I had some Snowflakes but definitely not enough to make a set and like some Stocking Stuffers or something.

Well, the snowflakes even when no full set could have given you quite some credits from collectors, not the world, but a still quite something. The stocking stuffers on the other hand they are a semi common trophy we usually get every xmas. So when that was all it could have been worse. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)

I've been managing most of my battles on pfudor with this build since ~230. Except item worlds, those are disgusting. I think I like the katana/waki in the end. Tried 2H or dual-wield and they felt horrible (especially the dual wield). Everyone's talking about 1H but if it's as slow and boring as dual-wield I'd rather stay with the katana even if it's worse overall. This post has been edited by mega-wifeacc: Jun 21 2019, 01:02

Current stats with my Club/Rapier combo. I wish my club was ethereal though, would give me at least another 3% evade.
