I noticed something odd...

When in combat, the log will sometimes show a gain of 0 points on an equipment profficiency for which I am at the current max cap. The Wiki has no information on this, nor the reléase notes.

Example: I am level 259 and my dualwield is also at 259 profficiency, yet I get a message that I received 0 points in dualwield profficiency while in combat, using my dualwield equipment set. I have no other personas created. I have four equipment sets, one of them dualwield using shadowdancer shade, currently using.

I know it is only an aesthetic bug, but I wonder why the system even gives me such a message when it didn't before as it may only eat up system resources unneedingly.

I included a screencap of that, in case it is of use. Browser used is Chrome 50.0.2661.87 m. No scripts, no themes, no additional extensions.Attached Image

that should be right. when you are max capped. that is what happens. Raise your level and it is fixed.

It is probably that if you had been a higher level that you would have gained some, so the system is trying to raise your prof but hitting the ceiling. It probably doesn't use much at all in terms of resource.

What I meant is that in the prior versión of the game I had already maxed some profficiencies (actually I like to max all of the profficiencies at each level up so they are "current") and I knew I would not get any further profficiency gains and neither the system notified me of gains since they were not possible.

This time around, however, the system is notifying me of a null gain which is pointless unless there was a way to "farm" profficiency for your "other personas", which is not the case.

Proficiencies are capped at your current level and don't increase until your level does

For fighter types using Niten Ichiryu, no weapon proficiencies are gained

Ah I see what you mean, you're aware of the cap, but just pointing out that the system is wasting it's time telling you that you gained nothing. Ye it is a little bit odd if it didn't do that before ( I wouldn't know because I haven't capped any profs). Did it do it just that one time? in either case I would not expect that the message is anything to worry about, in terms of system memory or whatever.

It shouldn't really, but it seems like floating-point math is causing some funny results. Not entirely sure what changed to cause it, but I'll fix it for the next one.

Guess I found an additional one...

I got a Supportive profficiency gain by Regen restoring HP and not by casting a spell or having absorbing Ward triggering.

Maybe an additional consequence of said math?

Or is this intended behaviour? Could it be exploited to get profficiency just by having a continuous effect triggering like Regen/Drain active and not by casting spells?

If you have Innate Arcana perk, you can randomly gain supportive proficiency, making a bug about it harder to tell.
Do you have that perk?

I'm pretty sure this didn't show up until sometime after Easter or else maybe it only happens on certain levels (it probably is a rounding issue, I'm level 257. Odd numbered levels?).

I kind of like it though. It let me know when it was time to stop grindfest and switch loadouts (I also like to keep most of my proficiencies maxed). Before I'd have to watch and wonder "did I blink and miss a message or am I still at .99?"
