I don't intend to play mage so I would like to know if I should sell this or just frame it and fancily hang it in a wall.

Welcome to the game. This particular item has no value, cotton is only useful when combined with a specific suffix: elementalist, demon-fiend or heaven-sent. Wall piece it is.

A long story to how this ended up forged so heavily, but at long last I am almost ready to replace it. I would be grateful for opinions: Is there a market for this, selling above the salvage value?

Not sure about that myself, but have couple thoughts:
1. High level players who can afford such extensive forging would probably want that forge to be on power of slaughter instead most likely, so they won't purchase this higher than salvage value.
2. ~386 lvl players who just collect legendary power armor set probably won't invest that much in forging their piece, so, they wouldn't want to buy this one at all.
Concluding, I personally don't see it going more than salvage value, sadly. Might be wrong though, just shared my thoughts.

Like uchi said. It'll end up too expensive for the people who can soulfuse or use it as is, and it's not that good for the ones who could pay for it.

Guess you could always try to auction it once before salvaging just in case. But it will have to be very close to mat value and if the bid is met it would probably be the end price. Alternatively try luck in a shop but it could take a while so if you need the mats or the money right now consider salvage for sure.

no, generally superior equipment is not good enough to sell. Also not good enough to soulfuse... also 2h with a superior katana is not easy, you can play much easier with a different style. 1h for instance would allow you to play IWBTH at your level, or even PFUDOR. That would mean much better drops, more income per time spent, more experience points, etc.

I have actually switched to 1h using an exquisite short sword. The weapons I listed were my old ones.

In the future, should I only bother trying to sell exquisite and higher quality equipment?
