There was a muzzie who worked with a friend of mine and this guy never ate pork. We felt sorry for him because he'd never tasted bacon. OMG, what kind of a dumbass religion doesn't allow that?

And calves are beef, pigs are pork. I'm surprised there aren't a shit-ton of bacon themed monsters out there. Bacon is epic.

A religion from arabia and the middle east that needed to neutralised pigs as food competitors. As every educated person should know pigs are like humans omnivores and it was much easier to farm other animals instead of them and to force that, pigs got declared impure. They just totaly forgot about the real reasons when they actually spread so they never changed it. Unlike Christianity which start to eat pigs when they reached regions where it made sense to farm pigs again.

I once had a conversation with a Muslim coworker (who was super keen to try to convert me, by the way), wherein he claimed that the "parasites" inside pork (I think he was referring to Trichinosis) can survive 1,000 degrees (unsure if he meant Celsius or Fahrenheit). That it was impossible to render pork safe to eat even by cooking. He was very adamant about it.

I mean, I guess if you believe that, it might be a bit unappealing to eat bacon. I'm not sure why anyone would though.

They just want to believe, so that the real world fit to their religion. You know? Just like those creationist's. In the back in their heads they know that the actual real world just dont fit into the worldview of their religion. So they create "science" that let them combine real world and religious worldview.

You could search for historical food cultures and the background of religious dietary laws. They all just exist for a local reason and dont make any sense in a bigger scale.
