One of the few things good in Isekai, from my point of view, is that we manage to meet a great number of monsters that we wouldn't see otherwise.

Including my own, so as to see how much crappy they are. Now I'm wondering how the hell they have even managed to have some wins (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/heh.gif)

And many have quite nice names, too. The last funny I remember was called "Intelligence not included" (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

There was a monster in Isekai named Mana Ouma. When [scryfall.com] Nikya of the Old Ways was first previewed, they showed the card first in Japanese and Scryfall used Mana Mare as a placeholder name. So did someone translate that back into Japanese and use it as a monster name?

Also it's nice to see Journey showing up. Somebody else really likes Gall Force. Journey was the leader of the Solunoids, who appeared to be built into a wall of machinery, and they were careful to show in a close-up that she didn't really have a face - it was just a hologram projected by several lenses. But the troops couldn't see that from down there.

One more little touch showing how fucked they all were. The further you went up the chain of command, the more they were all machines just pretending to be human.

Why did it make me laugh?

Well, I went and looked it up, because I suspected it was a real thing, which it is -- it's the Linnaean name of the downy woodpecker, a common bird in North America. I assume somebody included it as a Hentaiverse monster because the name pubescens sounded vaguely genital-associated.

(In fact 'pubescent' means 'downy,' because that's when hair starts growing.)

At any rate, this was the first time I recall seeing that monster.

...And just a few days before, I had seen a neat little bird just outside my window. Took a short video but had no expectation of ever actually being able to identify it.
