We're finally getting the payoff for the last couple of months of server work. Two new resolution options, 1600x and 2400x, are now being rolled out. These join the existing 1280x, 980x and 780x options to provide a wide variety of options to cater to all screen sizes and internet speeds.

Note that while this will soon be available to all registered members, to (hopefully) avoid killing the staging servers, this feature is being rolled out gradually. It is currently available to everyone with a donation star or any hath perk (even the HV ones), and everyone with a UID below 3,000,000.

If you qualify, you can select one of the new resolutions under My Settings. If you don't, just hang on for a bit. I don't have a firm estimate for how quickly the UID cutoff will be increased, as it depends on how many people end up selecting higher resolutions, but it shouldn't be too long.

Finally, I would like to take a minute to thank all the donators and people running H@H for making this possible. The dozen or so new servers to support this are all directly paid for with Bitcoin, and without H@H we would have needed many more and/or much more expensive servers to do it. So, thanks! You guys are great.

Edit: Bumped up the UID cutoff to 3,000,000.

We never resample to PNG. For the JPEGs, outside of adjusting the quality parameter based on the source quality and stripping stuff like profiles and extraneous metadata, it doesn't do anything special.

(ops... that was a brain fart about the PNGs, sorry)

Basically. Quality for 780x/980x is 50, for 1280x/1600x/2400x is usually 80 but can go as low as 60 if the source has a very low bytes/pixel score.

my usual quality is 75. good enough for quick fap.

but, by resampling png to jpeg already heavily cut the archive size for download.

Awesome, i'll be using this. I used 'Original Images' occasionally (I bought 'Source Nexus'), but now i won't be needing it anymore.

What does the 'auto' setting do? It seems to select 1280x for me, although i have resolution enough to use higher.

PS Its hilarious that the file servers that this site uses are vastly superior to the shitboxes my work uses.

Does this mean we can raise the minimum upload speed for H@H clients? 3mbps hasn't been enough for a while, even more with this. Assuming the wiki isn't out of date and it is indeed still 3mbps.

The wiki is up to date on requirements although changes are probably due soon.
