I was wondering why weaken didn't do crap against magic attacks, now that I read this thread it makes a lot more sense. I also noticed that it lasted longer and yet again reading the thread explained all that.
I guess it's good that I'm fairly low level, my proficiencies are increasing at a good pace at least my elemental and deprecating magic proficiencies. I can't wait till I'm like level 90, then my magic proficiencies will be really badass.

QUOTE(Tenboro @ May 15 2009, 08:38) You won't be able to *buy* super-expensive ultra leet weapons, if that's what you fear, at least not from the shop. There will be some baseline weapons available whenever the shop opens (which will be some time after the equipments are added), but nothing high-end, and it won't cost much.
I'm going to hold you to that because I just invested in 5 skill boosts which set me back 70,000 credits...

Sure makes things more interesting. One thing to note is that most of the magic type attackers are weak to physical attacks (obviously) (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Tenboro, I'm having a new problem. When I logged in this morning to get my battle, my MP, HP and SP was still drained from the night before. It never charged back up during all those hours I was away. I cast Shield to see what it would do and of course I was defeated without even battling. I seem to be having these strange bugs with my HV page. I always level up when I log in and the Karma Shield I trained isn't working properly, and if I get a skill point it never shows up on my page. Am I the only one encountering these problems? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) This post has been edited by Tenseigamoon: May 17 2009, 20:49

Most likely the battle started yesterday. You don't regen while in a battle, no matter how long you leave it.

Last night I got my random battle and then did some Grindfest and used my spirit attack. After I lost the next round, I closed everything down like I do every night. That's weird. I don't recall doing anything differently but perhaps it was due to my error. I'll be more mindful of it next time.

QUOTE(Tenboro @ May 15 2009, 07:25) - Weaken now only reduces the physical strength of the monster. It will now affect physical attacks and physical-based skills, but not magic-based skills. This change is mostly to make some other spells like Sleep and Silence less useless, and will also require some tactics to decide what spells are best to cast on each monster.
Going with weakened + no items still works on Hard, but its much more difficult than before. I wonder what my next battle will be like with sleep'n'such. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

(IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) Tell me how that works. I'm waiting till lvl 40 to reset my skills and I want to know if that is one that is worth investing in. I've pretty much abandoned elemental magic in favor of a deprecating/smash approach and that was a spell I was looking at to deal with spell casters though I might just be better off to keep a point in all of the basic magic spells and use whichever they are weak towards. Damned needing to shift my strategies constantly... But, I cannot complain about the experience and credits I have earned as a result of the beta, so it all balances out.

Tenboro, I leveled up again today when I logged in.
Congratulations! You have reached Level 77!
Lucky Break! You gain one Skill Point!
The skill point didn't show up on my HV page due to the little buggy-boo. Could you please add it in for me? The unspent one that's already there is from last time. Thank you.

Is lucky break an ability you can get as you get more powerful? I remember I had that ability before the H-verse started and I would usually get an extra AP when I leveled up. I really do miss that ability.

I was wondering about that bit myself. Has the skill tree been posted anywhere? If not by Tenboro then one of the high-level folks? I had the skill but never got the bonus either (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/anime_cry.gif)

A complete one hasnt been posted anywhere. Your best bet would be to ask Kleenex to post his as its gonna take most of us a long time to reach lvl 100 This post has been edited by TheBigR: May 19 2009, 04:08

I'll take that as meaning that it doesn't show up on your skill tree? If that's the case but Tenseigamoon has it, we would really only need the level 70 bar.

If that's the case, sucks for us low level players. I really miss that ability, for the 3 levels that I had that ability before H-verse, I got 2 extra ability points. More AP means MORE FUUNNNNNNNN!

We still seriously need some difficulty balance.
I find it really annoying that my hourly battles are sometimes against 3 powerful mobs that are usually at a high level (my last one was a tentacle/hamster/peacock) that would probably shitstomp me on normal, but sometimes I fight against 2 low level really wimpy mobs (like, manticore/ghost) that pose no problem to me even on hard, and there's almost nothing in between.
I can't spend all my time in grindfest, so I want my hourly battle exp to really count. It's hard to do that when your hourly battles are either wtfgodly or complete joke and hardly anything in between.
Also, perhaps you can have some sort of exp bonus when you take down more than one enemy in the same fight? For example, if you fight against two enemies at once, you'll get like a 1.1x exp bonus than if you fought those two enemies in two separate fights. I find it strange that a battle against, say, a whale by itself, and then a fox by itself, gives what seems to be almost the same exp as taking both of them on at the same time, despite the fact that the second battle is much tougher.
Also, perhaps in a grindfest, the farther you are in the grindfest the more exp you get? Say that if you beat the second round of grindfest, you get like 1.1 times more exp than if that same battle was your first round in grindfest. And if you beat the third round of a grindfest you get like 1.2 times more exp than if that fight was your first round grindfest. I don't really see a bonus in continuing a grindfest, so I'm probably gonna stop fighting any tough grindfests (e.g. I need to use weaken on more than two enemies) and just run and start a new grindfest, because I see no point in actually fighting it out. I'm just wasting credits healing myself whenever I bother with a tough grindfest battle.
By the way, do enemies really give significantly different amounts of exp? To me, it seems that every generic mob (manticore, hamster, whale, etc.) all give roughly 5-6 exp each in a grindfest, despite the fact that some enemies are tougher than others. It makes it even more pointless to take on the tougher generics.
Or perhaps I should move this to the suggestion thread in case Tenboro doesn't see this?

Odds are better he'll see it here, rather than the discussion or additions topic.

The monsters getting a free shot at you when you flee is your motivation not to start a new grindfest, but you're right that a carrot in addition to a stick would be nice.
I've had the same experience with the hourly battles. At least making the monster levels more consistent would be useful.
