Thats hilariously rare.

That's why I kicked out Spirit Shield from IA (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)
And I don't think I will ever use it again (probably would require lots of micromanagement not affordable for a casual)

edit: I read the wiki, and indeed this may be a case (not more or equal than 2 hp) where spirit shield is not the problem.

That's not the problem. At all.
It consumes very little spirit (1 point every 100 damage filtered, you have to receive something like 40000-50000 extra dmg to have problems with spirit bar).
