You have to be able to encounter monsters in the PL 25~950 range.
So it depends on the difficulty you play too.
But usually not above lv 180-200, at that level you'll encounter rarely PL 900 and often PL 1000+

Ingame you'll get, if you don't have any script that disables the battle log, the usual scan result.
Example:
Using the script I listed in the post #4 you get something else
out of the game: the monsters are registered in the [
hvlist.niblseed.com]
HVlist database.
