Can't even use notepad++ to see a script i just randomly downloaded.
Just an xml that's pretty gibberish with the text inbetween.
I don't know whether this or .doc files is the worst.

Sigh. Notepad++ is a basic text editor. It hasn't and probably never will read .odt, as it's primarily a coding tool instead of a document creation tool. Occasionally there are features beyond basic text that are useful when writing scripts, which is why I don't use it. Open Office is free, and there are any number of other free .odt readers to choose from. If you're on Windows, Wordpad will open it. I imagine that there's some similar basic rich text program on Macs, and if you're on Linux you should be able to sort this stuff out for yourself. Otherwise, you may just be stuck not being able to read the scripts. Sorry, but that's how it is. .odt is an appropriate format for the purpose, and you can deal with it or move on. |

Yeah even Word can open .odt files. I really don't see why you'd use a coding tool (that's what it really is, what with the line count, highlighting coding language options, hiding loops etc.) for text editing. People need to use the right tools for the job instead of complaining that they can't use a hammer as a saw. |

I'd like to learn how to edit. I have a lot of Kanon, Clannad and Youtsuba doujins that need scanlating. |

Version doesn't really matter. Step 2: Get a script and the raw images to go with it. Step 3: Read the Ero-Otoko guide. Step 4: Try the first page. Remember the three most important things. 1. Level your page. Whites should be white. Blacks should be black. 2. Use a comic font. Wild Words or Anime Ace if you're not sure. 3. Centre align your text. Step 5: Compare to other translations that you can see on EH. Notice how bad yours looks. Start again. Repeat this step as often as necessary. Step 6: Looks pretty good this time, post it up here so that others can have a look just in case. Step 7: Do the rest of the book. Upload to EH. Step 8: Have beer or beverage of choice. There's lots of guides out there and Google is your friend. If you have something specific that isn't working for you, ask away and we can solve it. If you've got specific translations that you want done I can't promise to get them done for you, but at least if you can edit yourself then you're halfway towards getting them done. |

Btw you should at least have the translation script beforehand, I'm just saying this because I noticed most of your bounties have have the word "Scanlate or REWRITE". Please avoid rewrites if possible, and get a proofreader just in case (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Tip: You should separate your translation and editing bounty, don't make them into one bounty. Translators who edit are rare; Editors who translate are rare. Combining your translating and editing bounty into one will make people less likely to take your bounties. Right, a few things have happened since I last posted here. First, I'm offering commissions! Standard pricing, all that jazz. See the website for more info, or ask me questions here if you like. Second, some more scripts: [Shinjima Saki] Hiiragi 2(IMG:[ s8.postimg.org] http://s8.postimg.org/ze1uwi54l/HII2.jpg) Description:I should explain that all the girls in these stories have working names of flowers. It’s a Japanese sex industry thing, or at least it used to be. I considered when I was doing the first chapter using the English flower names, but some of them were weird. I suppose I could have just picked random flowers that are legitimate English names, but I ended up just using the Japanese as is and putting an explanation here. So now you know! Anyway, the orphanage or whatever it is has little boys that get used as sex slaves as well, but they’re sick of being fucked by old men and women all the time. They see the opportunity to get some fresh young meat in Hiiragi, and so they go for it. Thankfully her new friend Botan comes in and does most of the heavy lifting. But this story appears to just be getting started. We’ve got a whole cast going now, and there’s a set up on the last page for more fucked up stuff to come. I’m glad I got in on this one early.
