I am wearing nearly an entire suit of plate armor (only missing shoes) and have a sword that procs Bleed. I don't even need to cast Shield and most attacks get either blocked, dodged, or do 0 damage. Second Winds and the rare Cure top me off.

Also almost 2 hours in, 195 rounds, I just earned an entire level in Cakefest.

Does bleed works like poison?

Yeah, but in only lasts two or three turns right now and it has a low proc chance. Depends on the weapon and how Snowflake generated its stats.

No more...that's it, I can't do any more. After 3 hours and 350 rounds of Cakefest, I'm done. I can't go on any more. I could probably keep going, but I'm tired. I have other things I need to do. I just went in there to do a couple of rounds to check some things out. My arm kinda hurts....

You're level 42. monsters piss on you in terms of attacks.
Try that again when you hit 75+ (you know, when they actually have claws and teeth and sharp objects that can hurt you.

LOL, I will. But by then, things will probably be more balanced and I won't be able to tank like I just did.

Best i did pre update was 79 with items. Now i can't even make it past 15 without items.

Bamboo Attack crits you for 551 piercing damage.

It may also have to do with armor. I've got an almost full set of plate (just missing some shoes), so even on my hourlies, I take negligible damage with Shield up. This update just made being a well-equipped non-mage super-awesome. So glad I blew my savings on armor.

Also gotta take the armor scaling into account and that the armor is a set damage reduction that's accounted for after their damage is done, which is why they can do 0 on normal attacks but then crit for ~ 20. The real challenge would be to get that far on normal, which would prove a lot more difficult (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)

As soon as the new update was activated I managed to get up past Round 22 on grindfest that is the highest i have managed to ever achieve.

I am curious as to how you've done so. At your level (19) I don't think I was ever able to go past 7-8 on cake, at my level (37) I max out at about round 13. I should note that I burn crude and lesser pots in grinds, but never anything higher - I probably could go to round 20-30 if I burned my Godlies (blashemy (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)).

after enabling equipment i've reached 93 grindfest on cake(86 before first balance changes and 7 lvls more after)
it could be really endless with 100% chance of offhand attack and bleeding

And you are level 26.... what on earth are you doing to get to level 93???? Did you find a chest full of elixirs somewhere? (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I feel like I am seriously doing something wrong here.

Just knocked out Road Less Travelled (#8) and A Rolling Stone (#9) on Hard since the last update. Gonna try to clear Blazing Field and Fresh Meat once I regen.

Been in Cakefest for nearly an hour, over level 100, and I missed my hourly...still going strong.....

Same here - how do you do it? (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I currently seem my safe level as Road Less Travelled on normal (again, in arenas, I try to avoid using Godlies, and only burn Averages-Greaters...). I just don't think that the cred rewards justify using the more expensive items.

Reading through the explanations given...

Is it really all about finding the few right pieces of equipment? I have only a shield, a light armor boots and a cloth cap, so I am not seeing much damage reduction...and my weapon has no special effect.

If that's the case, then the equipment is really HUGE - but luck in finding the right pieces is also a major factor (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Highest grindfest since update = 16 on cake. After dropping my staff and cloth armor and picking up a mace. And after using several godly health draughts and a few mana items. Only good that came out of it is: Mutant Peacock dropped [Spirit Elixir].

WOOOOT (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I finally past "A Test of Faith" it took three Lesser Health Potions and one Godly Health Potion but I finally beat it this is the first time that I got this high on the arena and what was my reward for finishing this lvl of the arena a Crude Health Draught GRRRRR!!! it doesn't seem fair (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/anime_cry.gif)

Pre-update, A New Beginning was my guaranteed safe, while Test of Faith could get dicey. Since the update, magi were pretty much nerfed and fighters with decent equipment got awesome. That's really the only explanation. I almost have a full set of plate armor, a shield, and a sword. With Shield up, most damage is negligible. In Grindfest on Cake, some mobs were critting me for 0 damage if I didn't outright block/dodge/parry them. Basically, if you've been building a fighter and you managed to snag some equips from either drops or the shop (I spent about 20-30k on equipment because I wasn't getting any drops), you're going to be godly until Tenboro starts balancing things out. I think its fair since before equipment stats, fighters were pretty weak compared to magic users, so a couple days where we can run around and frolic freely through fields of mob corpses is fine.

Before the update the highest that I got to was Round 18 on Cakefest and the as soon as the update happened I got up past Round 22, but normally I can get to about Round 12 or sothen I either run out of Draughts or I stop and go do something else(I only have dial-up so I can only be online for so long before someone wants to use the phone (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) )

My strategy on Grindfest up to now was to play it on Cake, taking some relatively poor items (I bought a batch of Lesser Mana Draughts specifically for this purpose when the Item Shop opened) and hoping to get some better ones in return. Pretty much all of my APs are invested in magic at the moment, and a strategy of Shield, AoE spells when the number of monsters increased, and just plain hacking them to death was working quite well. But then...

Pre-update: I would usually reach round 12 or so.
Post-update: I've tried it once so far and reached round 6.

I'm afraid to try anything beyond the first 5 Arena Challenges now...

I thought I had some OK, though not spectacular, equipment, but it turns out my leather armour gives me sod all protection, while at the same time causing sufficient interference when combined with my weapons to cause me real problems with my spells failing. And I have nothing that gives me any weapon procs, elemental damage mitigation or elemental bonuses.

My shoes (the ones that make me smarter) give me +5.64 Divine magic proficiency though, so I suppose that's something...

Well, I just completed A Rolling Stone, which took up 3 greater healing items an average mana potion and a greater mana pot, but the two immediately before it only took me one greater health draught each...guess that can be considered luck of the wind :X

If you're gonna be elemental spell heavy, forget everything other than staves in terms of weapons, and cloth will probably be better armor simply because the low burden won't slow your spells down as much...not to mention the evasion, which seems to be better for the higher levels right now than pure damage reduction.

Pre update I could get to around 20-24 on grind/cake

Since update I've got as high as round 7..but that might have something to do with scoring Hedgehog-Zombie Cow-Canuck in successive rounds with no armor equipped (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
