I was able to pass A New Beggining using my slots, cure magic and buying good weapons in dual wield. Using posions oh health. Thanks to that I could reach Growing Storm.

A week ago I was having trouble with normal and hard, mostly thanks to 501st.
If you had told me then that I'd beat the trio on Nintendo a week later without even bothering to ET while using less than half of my potions, I'd have laughed you out of the room.

Defeated DwD on Hard with Melee Mace. It took a while, but was simple. If not for focus and skills, it would have been much more annoying. Used 2 mana elixirs (didn't need to, but got bored of how long it takes and didn't want to waste time using focus every single time). Didn't even bother with shards this time. The dragons at the end weren't anywhere as bad as I was led to believe. (in fact all but Drogon fell quickly enough I didn't even notice what they were trying to do). The worst part of it was that with all of those attacks, I didn't even get a single full point of proficiency, even with 4/10 training.

Compared to Maging, Melee is SEVERELY underpowered. Even with Estoc it would have taken a while. Melee needs some kind of way to inflict at least half to three quarters of the damage Mage does to be equal (considering that Melee defense is better). And my Slaughter Mace is pretty strong (over 1600 base dmg) as far as they go...certainly stronger than my Estoc. The game needs to have buffed damage on Melee to be anywhere near fun on the high difficulties.

Might as well remove mage in that case, as no one in their right mind would use it over melee.

OC/spirit stance is your friend, so is OFC

And if you want to melee on IWBTH fast you need to upgrade your gear a lot. Mages will have a hard time if they use junk.

I did use the first two skills. It helped, but still slow. I could have used SS a bit more but I settled for just using in with skills.

I heard that the only viable IWBTH DwD Melee now is a Holy Strike Ethereal Estoc. Considering I got Elec with my Mace, probably really hard to ever get an effective weapon unless Tenboro lets us reset back to level 9 on the Forge (yeah, right!)

EDIT: Beat DwD with shards on Heroic (and only like 2 godly mana pots). Melee just takes too long.

Defeated all Arenas on Heroic. Used Black Mage primarily with some White Mage. I used a lot more godly mana pots this was but much faster than Melee (and I have a good Focus staff too, just not Katalox).

If I wasn't trying to raise proficiencies I could probably have beaten then a lot faster than I did since I have a Katalox Destruction Staff, but then I am not sure if I would run out of mana too quickly, or it it would take forever just to ether theft everything. Since I never maged until recently, not really sure.

Next up: Arenas on Nightmare.
