QUOTE(Alpha 7 @ Jun 15 2009, 00:35) I collated/supplied the data for the last update but, I cannot do Wiki myself.
It's really pretty easy even if (like me) you don't know anything about the syntax. The tables are already there, so all you need to do is copy existing examples.

Squirt hits you for 305 fire damage. Mantitcore uses Squirt Squirt crits you for 351 fire damage. Mantitcore uses Squirt

they all seem to be doing more damage with their magic than before but that could just be because of my level is annoying though, i used to be able to get through "test of faith" without using potions (if i decided not to blast all the monsters and got some 2nd winds), but lately i've been using potions from graduation onward

Yes, every night I secretly turn down player hit/cast chance and increase monster damage. If it's a full moon out, I also drop the loot drop chance and quality. Before long you won't be able to hit anything, and the monsters you won't be able to kill will be dropping pieces of lint.

(IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) ? would have thought it'ed be belly botton fuzz rather than lint. This post has been edited by dlhmmr: Jun 16 2009, 16:26

It's all to balance the system up for the introduction of equipment, obviously.

At any rate, Mantitcore needs to be tested for steroid abuse because he was never even close to being this strong: 1 5 Squirt crits you for 458 fire damage. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) 1 4 Mantitcore uses Squirt 1 3 Giant Panda resists your spell. 1 2 You cast Sleep. 1 1 You gain 0.01 points of deprecating magic proficiency. 0 4 Spawned Monster C: MID=5 (Giant Panda) LV=100 HP=2760 MP=188 SP=50 NA=89 Type=hostile 0 3 Spawned Monster B: MID=3 (Mantitcore) LV=98 HP=2730 MP=204 SP=49 NA=88 Type=hostile 0 2 Spawned Monster A: MID=9 (Cookie Monster) LV=96 HP=2622 MP=219 SP=53 NA=89 Type=hostile 0 1 Initializing random encounter ... 0 0 Battle Start! Maybe it's for equipment, but I would rather not have to equip heavy armor just to get the damage back down (you know armor will completely screw your action speed.) Edit: next battle Squirt hits you for 336 fire damage. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) I thought mantitcore was supposed to be a gimme monster. What's next? Cockatrice becomes a boss? This post has been edited by hitokiri84: Jun 16 2009, 19:25

Mantitcores always had a weak normal attack but a powerful special attack, which probably got more obvious after it turned into a magic attack the previous patch. Might I suggest silence instead of weaken?

Dear God I thought it was just me. I got it down to a Mantitcore last night and thought I was golden only to get butt fucked for like 800. I thought my luck in life had ended with that.

Who uses weaken on normal monsters? I would use barrier, but it's practically ineffective. Weaken is reserved for bosses only, unless I'm playing on Nightmare or up.

I'll still wear the heavy armor. I'll get hit more, but each blow will be significantly reduced, so it should balance out.

You mean you hope it will ? Bear in mind that, for example you were to receive 2 hits in light armor, dodge one and take 30 damage, as opposed to wearing heavy armor, taking 2 hits for 31 damage, the result would be pretty much the same. From a guess i'd say the heavy armor balances out the light armor in the long run when your proficiency starts climbing, but it's still a guess. Then again, you get hit so much that you could max out your proficiencies with a few good runs in grind fest :3

A few thousand maybe. I guarantee the armor and weapon proficiencies will increase much lower than the magical ones.

No dodging is more hits, so the heavy is at plus there. And don't underestimate how often you get hit in a single round. Even if it doesn't always increase the proficiency it's loads easier if not faster to up than magical.
