If you really want to play well, you need to switch to melee and then level up to 310-350, then get back to mages.

If you don't care so much, just buy a unleveled Leg staff (wrong prefix one is very cheap) in WTS, or throw some GP in lottery to get a staff.

Do NOT believe you can find equipment useful by yourself or in Bazzar.

I think you speak the truth. Since I'm a casual player who just wants to beat lv 25 arena and earn some easy 1000c from time to time, I begin to think converting to melee+shield+heavy armor just to play it safe.

But where would I get all the gear? Bazzar is totally useless. Can't get useful loot myself. Pre-0.83 unleveled gear is limited in number and price will sure rise, plus browsing the forum for trading is just too time consuming and tiresome for casual player like me, who spend about less than 30 min on this game per week.

Guess I should quit after all. Anyway, Thank you all for answering.

You could try random encounters at the highest difficulty level that you can manage without having to flee a lot. RE are quick and can be a nice source of equipment if you play several a day. It will probably take a few weeks to get a full set of superior+ heavy armor, but I think RE are a casual player's best friend.

I checked the Action Speed page on the wiki and it says
"*Monsters recovering from stun get a free action the turn after, regardless of the player's action speed during that turn
*Using powerups always takes 0 time units."

Perhaps Sherry Birkin was able to cast a spell due to the free action?

It is a good update. I have a question. Is there is no plan for grant an extra power up for an item when using Spirit stance? I mean, there is an extra penalty of 10 sp for conjuring a spell, but that spell is cheaper with spirit stance. But there is nothing special about items, on top the already extra penalty of 10 sp. Thanks.

Yeah, spells are cool. but I am talking about items. there is no extra power up for items under spirit stance. Is that right?

I understand. As young children we loved picture books, but then as we started school, books had more text and fewer images. Fortunately, Papa thought of this so from the main HV screen you can go to Character\Settings then add spells and the flee action to the quickbar slots.
