This is not how the internet works.

Second: We all got fucked over, but it's for the greater good in terms of balance.

And third: Learn how to adapt and survive instead of bitching about an large-scale nerf.

As much as I agree with the fact to prevent multi-accounting is necessary, I still feel his issue. What is the use of the equipment shop, if we cannot use anything that is remotely even usable?

I guess that everyone just like me sells all his undesired stuff (when we don't just salvage it), not the highest gear that they have.

I'm trying to get a few useful one handed weapons, but the only ones I ever see in the equipment shop and that suit my expectations are way too high a level. How on Earth can I expect to buy an exquisite weapon / armor, if everyone of my level keeps them for themselves, and the only ones who sell them are a much bigger level than I am?

Something needs to be done so we can at least buy useful weapons, instead of staring at 90% crap and 10% interesting but unusable.

I agree in that not being able to equip a higher stat+level weapon is regrettable.
Level scaling would "decrease" the weapon's stats to match your current level, but that weapon would be useful until you reached its original level and needed a new one, making them ideal for starting players who need a little something to survive the earlier stages of character growth, resource/credit gathering and style development/training.

Before this patch, it was not uncommon to see superior grade equipment with 3 or more main player attributes already present in them. Now, only magnificent+ and higher grade equipment have them, but you most certainly won't be able to equip them as most are level 400+.

As it is now, there is certainly no point to the equipment shop being there anymore as what you should buy is out of your league and the rest is not even remotely useful.

Also, since the potions and their usage mechanics have been retired, there is also no point in training pack rat further than having 7-8 slots since those could cover any kind of restoration need.

It would be a lot more useful to be able to soulfuse a higher level gear piece without level restrictions since it would scale down to your proficiency level anyway and would "recover" its stats slowly as it reached its former level along with you. If the point was to introduce a way for people not profitting from their high level equipment drops from multi-accounting, it also severely hurt the honest players who can now not get anything at all save their own drops which, depending on training levels, could be only trash.

Still very unbalanced and if you just started playing, hostile and barren.

Won't the ability to equip higher leveled weapon makes the game too easy? (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Bullshit. Six weeks ago, maybe. "Now," this game is HARD.
(I'm not bitching; I like it challenging.)

But put yourself 300 levels lower, lose 80% of your scav/arch/LOTD, ability points, the monsters scavenging shit for you, and most of your hathperks. Then do FreshMeat or DarkSkies on Nightmare (the hardest you can - just barely - without getting killed) for an Average Axe with 1 PAB, and enough credits to almost cover your gear wear.

I'm prob'ly overstating how tough it is, but I can see where it'd be damned frustrating for new players.

Nightmare? In the initial days of HV, a lowbie could barely clear the 6th arena (which, IIRC, was 7 or so rounds) on bloody Normal simply because the subbosses would have a high chance of killing you instantly. Use Spark of Life you say? That was reserved for level 100. Mind you, it was damn near impossible for a lowbie to grind. I considered myself lucky if I managed to make it to round 10 of a grindfest of Normal.

It is quite easy to get to level 400+ in a very short time for a newbie:
Just pay real life money to get "free" DoND credits and hath or run H@H all day and night (which will still cost you real money since neither electricity nor internet access are free unless you are stealing both) or pay a third party to run the H@H client on their server for those "free" credits and hath.

Once you do then one can simply fight a little everyday and the credits and hath will come at each dawn of a new day which can then be used to pay for training scavenger, archeologist, luck of the draw and exp boosts. Even if you wipe out in the early arenas, the credit infuse you receive will only grow and grow each day, making you able to pretty much buy some rare recovery items, then make a random post somewhere, get the exp boost from posting, fight some random battle which you can win because you'd have enough money to buy some scrolls of the gods (to get spark of life) and see a ton of exp come your way which will make you able to buy useful gear from someone or get them from the free shops.

I am currently level 244, have been playing the game since day one. All gear I have either got from drops or bought from the shop (In all my game's years I only got 3 magnificent random drops) or the light armor set (which were only superior shades of the shadow dancer and a fine ethereal mace of slaughter) and legendary mace I bought from fellow players. Even the crudes I got from ages past are way better than what drops now (My LoTD is 17)... Example: http://hentaiverse.org/pages/showequip.php...;key=e3df22cccd (I use it to grind profficiency that's why it is so high potency tier).
All of my fighting styles' profficiency levels are "current" (supportive, deprecating, two handed, etc. are all 244 profficiency).
I have some figurines and those were too lucky drops.
I have a hath perk, innate arcana I, which I got by buying hath at the exchange.
I got some old days artifacts and keep them as collectibles now since nowadays only generic ones drop.
All the bindings and materials I have come from only three monsters which got de-leveled on one patch and effectively made me spent twice as much credits, crystals and tokens just to get them back to how they were minus the abilities and gifts they could bring (that was when if you had a certain level monster, it would always bring in a low grade, mid grade or high grade material when they brought gifts, instead of the random nature of the gifts now).

All that I currently have I got through playing the game for years without using real-money-paid-for accelerators.

How many years will it take for another new player to get to the same spot I am in with the new system? Probably twice as much, since they cannot buy adequate gear nor have the minimum essential spells or abilities but have all the penalties and costs associated with the game. It is unfair for a new or lower level player to get wiped out because he/she cannot buy better gear and have them be penalized with defeat wear on their already bad equipment. It is not a matter of adaptation there... It is a matter of pure chance.

Thus, it is quite obvious that these changes are not only to discourage multi-accounting, but also a subtle way to force new or low level players to seek paid-for accelerators if they wish to even have a chance. As I said before... Hostile and barren to new players.

I know the usual people will come and post left and right about how I am whining and whatnot... Please do... And while you are at it, instead of bashing new or low level players, how about you help them instead? Might even bring in more real life money for the site.

You are playing hardcore mode, which is appealing in its own way but is much harder. Most new players are complaining that they can't get free equisite or better gear from high level players anymore.

I got to level 300 in six months from level 70 without donating, the difference is that I used arena clear bonuses to buy magnificient gear from other players and also got a lot of advice on what trainings to invest in. and gear to go after. I also sold trophies to purchase my current staff.

If both of us had been more active in past we would have been able to create more monsters for cheaper and also get more crystals from grindfest.

Of course they'll complain when they're told anything less than perfection is gutter trash, and they rely solely on gear instead of thought. They should gear for a plan, not plan for gear.
