Every bit of this was a step in the right direction, without a doubt. But I am still afraid this is not enough to revive equipment trade, because soulfusing means item is forever lost for market. Adiitionally, every trade with a higher-level player requires either a 10 days of dedicated grinding of soul shards or 1000000 credits besides the cost of equipment.

The simplest solution would be to allow to equip items up to 50 levels higher than you. That still would mean that lvl 500 players make no impact on market for lvl 300 players. And even if Free Shop makes a return (I would call it a beneficial feature of the game's community and not something to be destroyed, but in any case) it will hand newbies lvl 50 superiors (It wouldn't make them able to do PFUDOR RE, just make game for them less grinding and more fun) and lvl 200 players would get lvl 250 eqips. In any case I think that soulfusing should be as you described it "Picking a keeper" and not just the way to get upgrade (because equipment with level lower than yours is incredibly likely to be no better than your current equipment).
If you are completely averse to idea of using equipment over your level at least make some way to lower the level of eqipment without account-bonding. It should not be as prohibitively expensive as soul-bonding, (for example just 1 soul shard for every other level, without the base 50) this way good items can be kept in circulation.
In general i understand the desire to forbid top-down trades, but it is deadly to the trading. In every online game the usual way of trading is top-down.
(And trade between "equal levels" will not happen - there is too many levels, not enough good equips on each level. If you would allow to equip equipment up to 50 levels higher than you then it's entirely different because you have access to 1/10th of total levels of equipment, not to 1/500th. I did not mention lower levels, because without soulbonding chance to find upgrade on lower than yours levels of equipment is almost zero.)

Is that really worse? Well, there are fewer superiors, but vastly more legendaries, magnificents and exquisites, and nothing below average. The superior factor for difficulty might need a slight tweak, but otherwise I'd say that's a pretty damn big improvement.

Yours is a very small sample size, with just 10 RE higher-difficulty drops after the patch, so you shouldn't conclude anything quite yet.

I can only assume I've been buying gear in the EqShop that was substantially above my level at any given time, since much of what I see as comparable gear is ~150-200lvls higher than I am right now.

I have gear I guess I can't equip until I've gained about 60 levels or more, and will have hopefully accrued the credits or fragments to make fusing possible.

Finding one 'keeper' a week hasn't been my experience the past year, not sure yet if gear drops have improved dramatically enough to make this true for me, but praying for fragment drops is gonna have to be the way I go... at 1Mcredits per item soulfuse, f@#k!! I don't think I've accrued 1Mcredits in the past year lol



Edit: as an aside.... I had a staff I coulda offed into the EqShop for about 7700credits previously; now it's only gonna get me ~1500. What happened to gear values?

It takes a few minutes to get the numbers for every combo, but I'll be looking at them in time - preferably after more than just a day of data. The trend is quite clear, though.
