That's exactly why low-level shouldn't play mage, mana issues. At high level (and with good forged gears), mages can kill fast enough for the mana potions to be insignificant, while infinite potion lets us last very long in grindfest. On the other hand, low level will need to spam either mana potion or ether tap, making it a very inefficient style.

It sounds to me like you're saying I should efficiency spam, hunker down behind some super-perfect set of armor that bounces all attacks, and spend all day bashing away with little to no variation...

Well you're free to play the game way you want. The game is ridiculously hard and 10b intends for it to be like that so you're only wasting even more time playing it inefficiently.

Anyhow, the most efficient way to play this game is not playing it. Get a cheap VPS to run H@H. One year of running will give enough credit to last you a lifetime of hentai

You're not doing that with one-handed style.

I wouldn't touch anything smacking of torrent with the Death Star Laser Cannon.

H@H sounds too much like torrent; so NWIH. (No way am I leaving my computer on 24/7, and too much hassle, even with a VPS, from looking at the faq page.)

How are you having mana issues with one-handed, anyway?

Light armor, axe and shield. (Armor: whatever looked good that I found from drops.)

Attacks supplemented by Heartseeker, haste, and Spirit Channeling, with an occasional Shield Bash, Vital Strike, and Smite.

Defense supplemented by Protection, Regen, Shadow Veil, (and Haste,) with an occasional Silence and Weaken. Elemental Magic was used only on initial fights, (3-4 monsters,) just to boost Magic Proficiency. (I actually just passed 150, and can now access the Third Tier spells.)

((edit:) Actually... Since my goal all along was to gain access the Third Tier Spells, and I have; I guess I don't need to worry so much about using elemental magic any more...)

Healing potions were nearly useless, except for emergency HP recovery; using Battle Item slots for Mana Potions provided a better return.

For the second part; I think the answer is 'yes.'

As a part of working to up Elemental Proficiency; I would tap each of the four elements at least once per fight, along with an occasional Smite.

I've been using torrent for 12+ years and H@H for 6+ years. Tens of thousands of torrents downloaded. A few hundred uploaded here even. Millions of files served on H@H. 0 problems.

With the item level returning i find 2 changes would be useful.

1) the base value for a stat should be shown in brackets without having to open the pop-up.
2) when mousing over an item it would be nice if the currently equipped item in that slot is shown.

This would be helpful for browsing the shop so i could see if an item listed is actually better than mine or its just better because its ~50 levels higher than mine without needing 3 browser windows open and possibly having the item bought out or recycled out of the shop while you compare.

As for torrents, you shouldn't have any problem with funky stuff in torrents here. Sandboxing and virtual machines are options if you really want to be safe.

I got to about page 40 and just can't read anymore. Patch seems neat, is there an assigned deadline that I need to wear unassigned equips by?

Strategy for gaining less exp while still getting 'em soulfuzzies
Step 1:
* Do not post in forum
* Do not train AL
* Do not Hath your perks
* Do not buy more stars (they're probably full of radioactive)
* Do not drink EDs
Step 2:
* Do Grindfest at Normal difficulty (aka derpfest normfest)
* Make sure to answer all of those pony questions WRONG (this is HARDER than it sounds)
Step 3:
* When Stamina drop to 0, go to Dawn, then REs
If you still able to get Soul Fragments after that, congrat!
If not...
well that's sucks coz I haven't tried this method yet

Nothing beats a good Void Axe at your side; (since I'm kind of a 'smash-it-'till-it-stops' style player...)

A rapier is a more refined weapon from before the Dark Times... Before the Empire... (and I'm not really someone into subtlety...)

Haste seems to allow me to move more often and recover faster; though I'll admit the actual benefit may be minor.

Smite I've mostly used just to build up my Divine Proficiency; I would tap it casually since it would usually bridge the gap between the last elemental magic spell. and those spells cooldown ending.. Since I'm less likely to use Elemental Magic now; Smite will probably drop off as well.

Shadow Viel: Seemed to keep damage lower, especially when I would Pfudor; but what you said certainly seems advisable since I'll probably go more purely melee now.

Third Tier: Again; getting Third Tier was mostly just an arbitrary goal. Now that I've achieved that goal, I'll likely use elemental attack magic much less now...

...which of course goes a long way toward keeping mana use down... even with the other spells I use...

...la, la, la... complaining like a fool; and my complaint is no longer valid if I switch to a purer melee style... ...la, la,la...

The first battle I fought last night after your last post was essentially as you said... including the use of healing items, amazing how much mana I saved not using elemental magic...

As usual, I blathered when it didn't matter any more...

Thanks for your advice, it helped me make some decisions that should be of benefit immediately in game.

Still hacked at not being able to load my Battle Item slots as I wish, but that doesn't matter as much anymore.
