I am a systems administrator. Or a network administrator. Or an assistant version of one of those two. Depends on who you ask at any given time, although my business cards currently say "Assistant Network Administrator".

I am responsible for several servers, some programming, answering the phone, and pissing people off by telling them the old way is wrong now. The latter is more of a job perk, actually.....

I have 6 gigs of ram and I am therefor using XP 64, I do not know how much longer I will last....

I tried Vista 64 only to have it hang (no BSOD or anything, just ....kinda....stop) even after three re-installs.

I am seriously considering hanging 3 gigs of ram for the stability of XP 32 bit

You could always beta windows 7...

You could always install a Linux distro...

The guideline is basically 1.5 to 2 times your physical RAM, it should at least be the same size.

5120 it is. Now to reboot, shrink my windows partion, make a new partion, and reboot again.

i was planning on installing ubuntu when i got a 2nd hd, and i've been planning that for a few months now (only played with it a bit off the disc)

why don't you make a linux/firefox thread, and use that link so that you can convert people there :o

I would use linux, but I'm primarily a gamer, and if you go spinning ******** about being able to play windows games on a linux box with windows installed on my linux box I may vomit in my mouth a little....

But I keep a linux box for a firewall. It's and old recycled 486. It doesn't have a case and the mobo just sits on my carpet, but it works.....

it's sucks because there is problem about compatibility with old hardware and software also about the huge memory usage so not everyone can use its features optimally.
