Well it is French, but I have heard that if you wish to be introduced to Linux, that it was the way to go. But I am still fond of Ubuntu myself.

Kubuntu Lucid, Linux Mint, and an older Arch build. Left Winblows a long time ago and never looked back.

Radixius: Mandriva (Which is Mandrake's new name) is a damned decent distro, but Kubutu is a better intro to Linux for a windows user, Ubuntu for Mac users. Also, Mandriva has a tendency to update slower than some of the other (decently active) distros

Meh, it really isn't something important enough to know for most. The difference is only that Kubuntu is using KDE which is a windows style desktop manager, while Ubuntu is using Gnome, which is styled similarly to Mac's desktop environment. Other than that they are the same OS, and still use the same packages, and repositories.
As far as why I consider it/them/whatever to be a good migration OS: It is stable, easy to use, and can be configured to automatically update. Most packages, hardware, etc just works ™ or works with minimal tinkering, which makes migration easier from your previous operating system.
Also, now that Microsuck is stealing some of our older ideas (like widgets, some of our 3d effects, etc) Winblows users are finding it easier to migrate, and more 'worth it.'

My screen is acting up, and when I finally get fed up enough to ruin my uptime by fixing it, I'm going to reinstall Jaunty Xubuntu.

Mac user here (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/duck.gif)
I switch back and forth between Snow Leopard OS-X and Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit.
It depends on what I'm doing.
I haven’t had any issues what so ever with either one at least in terms of stability
but I've only had my new Mac Pro for a few weeks now so... (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I have experenced a few hickups while running windows 7 on my laptop tho. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/mellow.gif)

Oh, I never chimed in around January; I upgraded to Windows 7 Enterprise (yay volume licensing, as well as a "spiffier" name). Anyways, it's been nothin' but nebula...
