I’ve got a “Kanji disability”

It’s more like I know about 800 core Kanji and the other ones are hard to remember. Luckily you can get Kanji OCR apps like [yomiwa.net] Yomiwa and use “reading voices” in iOS. The rest is built into iOS and I think Android.

I’m actually retaining more Kanij by memorizing by sound, and I can read tankobon chapters about 3x faster since I started using OCR + text to speech.

I’m actually unzipping tanks from nhentai, importing them as PDF and “Typing up the Japanese”… I may even get one scanlated….

I wouldn't call that a "disability" so much as "the problem with learning the language."
Unless you're a native speaker, of course; then maybe it is.
But 800 is still impressive, when compared to how many I remember (something like 12).
