Also if I remember correctly, you can prevent a forced update shutdown from actually happening by running shutdown /a to abort it.

Not sure though.

You always can. Not sure why you feel otherwise

At least you have the wherewithal to admit it. More than a lot of people.

Also I have Mac OS X Mojave (or MacOS, I will always call it OS X though) in a QEMU/KVM virtual machine now. So that was fun and took several hours longer than I feel like it should have.

Or a tool that lets you fake an OEM key. IIRC the term SLIC is relevant. I don't really 100% know anymore and it's too close to bedtime for me to try figuring it out.
I don't use Windows at all anymore, anyway.

And it is not difficult _at all_ to obtain install disc images.

You don't want to do the fake key thing.
In win7 there was some software everyone used called DAZ's Loader, or something of that sort.

(BTW, I have a valid key. I just did a lot of research into this before I went ahead and bought a retail copy, back when one could still buy Windows 7 at retail stores.)

My personal computer and office computer are all win10. I think win10 is the great os that ms ever offered.

But all servers are installed with linux(ubuntu, centos, debian etc.) for special and performance considering.

In the past 3-4 months I finally made the switch to Ubuntu (18.10).
In the past a already had many opportunities with RHEL and UbuntuSrv, but for my desktop I mostly still stuck with Windows.

I tried various other distributions: Mint, Debian, Fedora Manjaro, Arch.
But as I'll always be a gamer and I like the simply setup and more or less guaranteed functionality of Steam, I choose the less worrisome route. I deal with computer/server problems already enough at work.

I still have Windows on another SSD for games that just won't work on Ubuntu, but I mostly use Ubuntu now.

When I saw Win 8 & 10 coming I customized a Win 7 computer and I have no regrets. Aside from the Zune, Win 8 & Win 10 are two of the biggest mistakes windows has made IMO. It doesn’t seem like those computers last as long either...
