macOS on my laptop (with Windows 10 in a VM), and Fedora Server on my private server (possibly becoming a public server in the near future, in which case I'll probably replace Fedora with CentOS.)

I highly recommend RHEL-based distros for servers. I've found them to be remarkably problem-free, compared to any other distro. The only thing you have to get used to is SELinux, and that can take some time. It's also one of the most secure distro families though, because of it.

My server is running debian and I run void on my thinkpad. Not having to deal with systemd is a good feeling.

I recently checked out of curiosity the specs of the weirdest thing I'm running (under Virtual PC 2007):

Gnome: 2.30.2 by Unbuntu from 2010/06/25
Ubuntu: 10.04 LTS of April 2010 (skipping the nickname since I have it displayed in french so it would not be useful)

That's a linux by the way (how obvious was that?).

You can use System V init in Debian. Getting rid of systemd altogether is annoyingly tricky, though possible.

I swear anything poettering touches becomes crap instantly. A friend wanted to try Ubuntu (I don't like Ubuntu much anymore, but I decided to help him anyway). Upon installing it, I discovered the reason that he couldn't resolve any URL's was that Systemd now apparently has a DNS resolution subsystem as part of its creeping feature set. Replacing it with dnsmasq fixed everything.

Windows 10 and Ubuntu, though I rarely use it.

The best way to get good at linux/unix is to take off the training wheels & move Windows to a separate hard disk that is stored in a different room than the computer.
It increases your motivation to find a new solution in Linux instead of falling back on the already-known windows one.
